I am considering selling the Suntup EOTD portfolio that I own. I don't really collect portfolios
and to be completely upfront I bought it to get a Misery S/L. It is a gorgeous production and
it's not a must that I sell. Just gauging interest in case anyone that really wanted it missed out. Would
sell for issue price of $300 and throw in free shipping.
However, Misery is NOT for sale nor will it be for a very long time ;)

With all of the frenzy surrounding Suntup and DRE I'm honestly surprised that this isn't more sought after because it IS beautiful!

Please PM if interested.

I have to say, there are many editions of many King books with much artwork in the world, but it's possible that Palladini's work for EOTD is the best of it all - sharp yet soft, detailed yet mysterious. I love these illustrations.

For sale:

Dolan's Cadillac proof (Lord John Press, 1989) - blue state in great condition. There are a few copies listed for sale online at $500-550, which is too high. I'll sell mine for $275 plus shipping.

Not a super scarce proof but almost 30 years old (and less than 100 copies issued if my information is correct). Also nice that it is a proof of a limited edition.

PP Gift = PayPal Gift. When sending money to friends/family (aka a gift), PayPal doesn't take a cut for processing the transaction. It is a preferred method of payment for TDT'ers.

PP Gift is Paypal Gift or otherwise known as 'Friends and Family". This incurs no charges to buyer or seller (unless currency change is involved). The downside is that there is no recourse if a problem occurs. Basically as the buyer, you need to trust the seller.

There are no fees for the buyer if they pay from a linked bank account - however, if they pay from a linked credit card then they pay fees of $0.30 plus 2.9% of the amount (essentially the cut that PayPal would take if you paid non-F&F).

If you buy or sell things online then PayPal is an option worth considering.

Most online retailers accept PP. PP provides dispute resolution for six months after purchase. You don't have to enter all of your information on a retail website; just click the PayPal button and check out. I use it to pay for almost all of my online purchases. I use it at CD, and Suntup, and etc., etc..

PP is also a free (or minimal fee for faster service) way to transfer money. You can (almost) instantly transfer money to anyone else with a PP account. I have a friend who needed help to fix his flat tire. He had his paycheck but no cash. I used PP to transfer the money to fix the tire and it was in his bank account in a few minutes.

Warning: Your shady relatives know this and will take advantage of you.

On the PP thing, I am assuming that it has to be connected to a bank account (saving or checking account). I don't like that idea. It may be old fashion but it's how I am. I like to pay cash, check, or CC and that's it.
But it is a sweet looking book. But I have to relax a little bit because I may have something else coming on down the line.

I too was never ever ever going to use Pay Pal, but then a book was for sale I really really wanted - one of series of remarques by some guy named Maitz… and he only took PP.

So, I opened a second checking account for Pay Pal so if something did go terribly wrong it wouldn't affect my main account. Plus I now had an account I was ok with using for Amazon to deposit into as a seller.

Now I can't imagine not having it - just about everyone takes it, even non-USA sellers.

I did not know that. But I guess I am hesitant about it being connected to anything. But the invoice thing and Friends & Family are things that I did not know about. Thanks.
I guess I am just too old fashion. It would be a sweet book to have but if was at $800 the first time, I am sure it is that now, and I can't afford it anyway. It would be cool though
to send a book to some one to do that for me personally. But I don't see that happening either. Thanks for the explanation though.

I can pretty much guarantee your information is already in multiple web-accessible databases whether you put it there yourself or not. Nearly every service you use stores your information and many of them sell it to other companies. They’re also sharing it inter-organizationally and odds are some, if not most of them, use the web to do that.

That should say can't use Friends and Family with an invoice. Not sure what happened there. Sorry.

Also, Paypal is highly secure. My husband works for Paypal and I've used them for many, many years without any issues at all.

If you link a credit card, you are double insured - by Paypal and your CC company. Of course the Gift option takes that protection away on the Paypal side.

I hear you and I’m not challenging you by any means, but my point is you couldn’t make it any easier for them if you wanted to. One of my oldest friends was anti-tech long before the days of Google and Facebook, or even internet porn for that matter, and he still managed to have his identity stolen. Turned out his bank screwed up somehow or another and failed to secure his sensitive personal details. The bank was Wells Fargo, too. Not trying to sell you on PayPal, I’m sure not using it decreases the chances of something like identify theft, but your info is still quite vulnerable regardless.

I know you are not challenging me. I did not take it like that. I have friends who use it also. It's just something new, to me that is. And that's all. Plus I never really bought anything online that required it so it never entered my mind.
I buy stuff from Amazon and B&N (even though their site sucks now) and I never used paypal. Before, I would have a go-between to buy my books for me so I never bought anything on eBay like that. Most if not all of my King buying now
is through Dave or a specific site like SP, or something like that. I hardly do person to person purchases so I never had a need for it. Now I am too set in my ways.

And that's neat Becca that your Husband works for Paypal. I guess he would know now wouldn't he. I understand that for many transactions, or one person businesses, it's probably a great thing to use. I guess since I never used it, never wanted to.
It all seems (seemed) complicated to me that's all. But maybe one day I will look into it more.

The only thing I hate about paypal besides the fees, is that IF you sell over $20000 in a year AND 200 people pay you(transactions), you will, in the USA, be given a 1099, thus reporting the amount to the government.
Not really sure I find it fair. Who is to say you paid $400 for a book and sold it for $500, you would be taxed on the $500 I am told from PP. The main thing is that BOTH have to occur before you pay taxes on the amount of the 1099 form.
It is a rule I did not know of until a couple on months ago.
When selling, it is a PP (or Federal??) rule.
They don't care how much you buy, just how much you sell.
Just what I know(heard from PP) so far.....

It so happens that I am unfortunately very familiar with the IRS/1099 rules. I used to own a Wall St consulting firm and back in the '80's/90's we used to pay employees via 1099. Of course we were'nt the only ones, but suffice to say that back then it was seen as a loophole by many and abused. 1099 "Consultants/contractors/entrepeneurs" don't pay state & federal tax or Social security until they file returns on a quarterly basis. basically, 1099 meant you were an individual business and you'd add up expenses subtract them from gross receipts and pay taxes/SS on the profits. problem is/was most don't file or properly report. The IRS began to crack down and started holding companies paying employees as independent contractors (1099) responsible for the unpaid taxes. They're still cracking down and tightening the loop holes. That is why PP won't fuck around with the 1099 because the IRS can hold them liable for unpaid taxes.

If you bought a book for $400 and sold it for $500 the purchase is an inventory expense levied against the sell price and taxes are due on the $100 profit. Of course, SAVE THE RECEIPT!!!!!!! lol lol Eventually the IRS will tighten the threshold even more than the current limits for a 1099. They get their pound of flesh boys. One way or another. You NEVER want to dance with the IRS. They're a Motherfucker of a dance partner!!! lol lol

There’s 2 states where the laws have changed so that if you receive a payment for 600+ dollars and the buyer uses a credit card, you get a 1099. I know that because I sold one book on eBay for 1225 dollars last year and received a 1099 for that exact amount. When I called PayPal, I found out about the 2 states, and how I’m lucky enough to live in one of them.

Just to be clear, States don't really play into as much. 1099 is more a Federal component, don't get me wrong states want their piece of the pie as well, but the Fed's come first. When PP issues a 1099 they are doing so as part of their federal corporate tax filing and declaring you (1099 recipient) as an expense against their adjusted profit. 1099's are a "Red Flag" to the IRS to a lesser and greater extent depending on the amount of transactions and gross dollars. If you are dealing in 5 or 6 figures you're "Red flag" has more potential for an audit. The occasional transaction not so much, but it still is a "Red Flag" and could land you in the IRS "Random Audit" pool unless the figures are reported on your tax return.

They are going after these type transactions more and more. If you recieve a 1099 be sure to report it on your return. IRS database looks to match 1099's reported by corporations like PP against recipients filing their return. Same holds for income received for investment gains and casino's. Of course the gross dollar amounts do play into the reporting and they are not gonna knock your door down for a 1,000$ transaction, but you may make the "Audit Lottery" and if you didn't report the income its a violation.

Of course, SAVE THE RECEIPT!!!!!!! lol lol Eventually the IRS will tighten the threshold even more than the current limits for a 1099. They get their pound of flesh boys. One way or another. You NEVER want to dance with the IRS. They're a Motherfucker of a dance partner!!! lol lol

As someone who has both received 1099's and sent out 1099's, I echo this: don't mess around. If you think that you could hit this limit, keep your receipts for the books you buy. Merlin is right that you will only have to pay taxes on the profit, but you will also have to claim the original purchase as a deduction in order to do so. If you are on the receiving end of a 1099 for labor you provided, you will owe 15.3% in taxes - both the employer and employee portion of Social Security and Medicare taxes. I'm not sure if it works the same way for selling books - I'd ask an accountant. I don't want to get political here, but the 1099 economy is really shitty. There's a reason that companies like 1099 labor - not only is the entire tax burden on the "employee", but the company doesn't have to pay taxes on the income it uses to pay the "employee". It's a win-win for them.

Thanks. It's not exactly a "Win/Win" for the corporations. I mean any funds paid to a contractor for labor is a legitimate expense much as the cost of the book is as described above. However, Corporations can and will be held liable for unpaid taxes by the independent contractor under certain circumstances. When I owned my company it was based on a percentage of the "Work Force under 1099" and I'm sure it has changed. In the end its the trends that are the highest Red Flag as for most loop holes.

As a rule, if you are an individual independent contractor watch your P's and Q's and dot your "I's" lol

1) S/L Drawing of the Three #572 in F/F condition. Original Slipcase, but note the slipcase is damaged. Not sure how it happened as I bought it this way, but looks to me like it was dragged against something that caught the material and pulled. $600

3) One complete set of CD's Doubleday Artist Editions to this point with the art portfolios as well. Non matching numbers - Carrie #245 (AP #21); Salem's Lot #PC (remarqued by Glenn Chabourne) (AP #721) ; The Shining #475 (matching # AP). All fine. $750

Anyone looking for a Cemetery Dance The Shining gift edition? I was told that they sell for slightly < $100 these days. How about $75 plus shipping from the Netherlands? I think the total will end up being around $100-110 and you would be helping out a forum buddy  I removed the shrinkwrap but otherwise it's still in the condition I received it in from the publisher.

I am going to check my shelves and see what other non-essential books I have left. I know I still have my blue Dolan's Cadillac proof that I already listed here a couple of times. I also have a shrinkwrapped Centipede Press 'Salem's Lot gift ed. that I might sell. I'm open to offers on either book!

Selling any of these would help me to recover some of the costs of my recent purchases (UK Skeleton Crew proof, Misery gift ed.).

At the risk of bringing wrath to myself, I think $3500 is FAIR in today's market...Yes, one sold on eBay for $4,050, but I think that was a special case....The book cost $450 at retail just a couple months ago. And while I have the upmost praise and respect for the production and final product (and Paul is a sweetheart of a guy to boot), I simply do not think it is worth 10x original price. I know some would disagree with me....taking off my "collector" mentality and putting on my "logic" hat tells me that this will be very similar to what Grant did with the Dark Tower series...the last book published carried a premium as it was a "placeholder" for the next book to be issued, but as soon as the next book was released which became the next placeholder, the value of the former book plunged (like more than 50%). Just saying, that could happen here.

I agree that the price will drop after the rights transfer to the next book, but I don't think it will be nearly as steep a drop as with the Grant books due to the low production run. All the Grant books (except the gunslinger) had more than triple the number of copies produced (in some cases more than quintuple), with only 200 copies of Misery, I think the value will hold better.

Go back and read what I said brother. I sold one for $3750. My comments discussed my belief that it is not $1995 as you stated. That was a mistake.... I’ll gladly buy your copy at $2k. I also believe it will be worth more than $2k down the road... for many reasons.... but not gonna get into that again on this thread. This one is sold at $3500 and I knew it would. Price was right I guess.

PS: I had multiple people ask about it. Some did make offers for less but it sold at his asking.

Thanks for clarifying. I don't wish to see a CC thread where things are posted, sold, and disappear.

Kinda a "ghost" post.

I realize that any/everything can go away, but if in the long run all we have is "ghost" (meaningless) posts, then the thread is useless for anyone who doesn't respond in seconds, and thus will be terminated (the thread itself).
1 minute BIN's are for ebay, not here. At least on ebay, a person can somewhat figure out what sold, for how much, when, and to who.

I've got a complete Bag of Bones manuscript I'm selling. This is a copy used for proofing and editing long before the
printed and bound proofs/ARC's. I bought this from Betts about 15 years ago. The cool thing about it is it has a copy of the first chapter which is
totally different from what was finally published and it's all marked up and re-written in King's handwriting. As far as I know these copies are the only
way to read the different beginning to the book.
This is a heavy box, over a 1000 pages, PM with interest and offer. there was one on ebay recently for $350.
I have rarely ever sold any of my collection, but honestly I need more room and this is a box full but it's pretty cool so I want someone here to have it.

Got any pics? I have one but I don't think it's your version. Is it the same Stu sold some few copies years ago?

I’d also be very interested to see some pictures. Especially of the corrections by hand. Are they only in king’s hand, or is there also an editor at work on the text? And is this one different from the ‘2nd draft’ bound manuscripts of which Pasiuk has one for sale on ebay?
Thanks

Yes, very different from bound manuscript, I have one of those also. I was told, by Stu Tinker I think, that these corrections are from King, there are also many editing marks, copy notations etc..
I am sure an editor made notes also. The most important part is the re-write of many parts in chapter one that changed King's original text. I'll try to get some photos.

That"s a shame! Scribner could have used new material to add it to their 20 years anniversary edition, making it more appealing to fans.... Oh well

Gauntlet sold these for $200. CD sold the rest for $300

This copy is NF with some slight issues at the edges. A matte would cover them.

With only 110 out there, and seemingly no one selling, it's a tough book to find. Funny thing is, they could be had for less than $1K back in 2016. Of course a lot of rare (low limitation, or new) King books have soared in price over the last few years.

I may get my head bitten off for this but I think it’s a fair concern. Whenever I hear how values have soared over the last couple of years, presumably having something to do with the IT movie, I can’t help but wonder if I’m making a mistake by not waiting a few years until I start buying the higher end productions. I’ll be gutted if in, say, 2020 we realize this was merely a bubble and the thousands I’ve spent on some books (sometimes that’s the case for just one book), will have been a waste of money. So I’m not misunderstood, by waste I only mean in terms of the savings I could have seen had I simply waited for values to level out again. I don’t mean to say I feel like I’ve wasted my money now because I love these books and I love collecting them.

Realizing no one can predict the future, do you (or anyone reading this) think I’m worrying for nothing? This is one question my lack of experience can’t even moderately forecast. I can say however that it’s happened to me before in other collecting hobbies, specifically with baseball cards, where I had spent hundreds on some cards 20 years ago and they’re now worth pennies.

(If this belongs in another thread, I’d be happy to move it or will understand if you do)

Not sure if this is the best thread for this. I'm trying to identify a signature in a book from a local seller, they have no info on it but it was in a showcase.

Copy of Bag of Bones, neat signature but I have no idea who it could be by/from. Doesn't seem to be the artist from the dust jacket. Might simply be a cool signature of a book owner, but I was hoping someone might be able to ID it?

If there's no interest now, if you can wait my guess is there will be intense interest when Part 2 of the movie drops - and you will probably get your $400 for it.

I am considering the idea of selling my matching letter ‘D’ Dragon Rebound/Suntup set complete through The Dark Half/Horns, thus also carrying rights to the next DR book, the next lettered King Suntup book, and the next lettered non-King Suntup book. If you are interested in this big ticket set, send me a PM. Just a forewarning, though, this is by no means a ‘fire sale.’ And please don’t message asking about individual books, it’s all or nothing:)

I'm selling my duplicate copies you see in the photo.
None of the items shown are signed and they should be in chronological order.
If the book is lying down it's not to hide anything, it's just to prevent spine sag.
Majority are very very nice condition, some are as new/exceptional etc.
I'm not posting prices, make offer if interested.
If you see something that you would like or you need additional info please ask.
Post or PM (text if you have my number)

Just for future reference. I have just completed a private purchase with, Colin and as he has done in the past he was/is a very kind, professional and honest seller. I cannot be more satisfied with my book dealings with him. He treated me fairly and completed all transactions professionally and to my complete satisfaction!! If, you are on the fence about dealing with him I cannot recommend him more highly. Thanks for everything, Colin!!!

He treats fellow members especially well, folks!!!! However, keep that tidbit to yourselves!!! lol lol

Rage

True 1st/1st USA. Appears to have never been read. No remainder marks, no previous owners writing. Does have a chip or two on cover, but for a 42 year old drugstore paperback rack book, I rate it NF, possibly NF+ given the age.
I've seen crazy prices on ebay for terribly flawed books. This one is (out of 10 copies I have owned over time) the 3rd nicest I have ever owned.
$999 F&F PP, free USA shipping. International at cost. Signature required, insurance available upon buyers request/expense.

Serious inquiries only (I don't wish to take 20 high resolution pics, but will take a few for a serious inquiry).

Satisfaction guaranteed. Recipient pays return shipping.
