Yeah, they're all with me now. I usually ship within a couple of days and combine shipping and include the tracking/conformation too. And I can take Paypal, credit/debit cards with Square, checks, money orders, etc.

The books will be packaged securely and i will split the postage with the buyers, no matter where you are (remember i am in the UK).

So the books for sale are ...

Thanks, Rich. Maybe restrict it to folks with 500+ posts to keep it honest or, you need RF's blessing. Just spit-balling here.

I would think we'd want to encourage individual innovations and enthusiasm, but there could be pitfalls in retrospect.

Any thoughts? RF?

I think we should stick to what we have. We work largely on the honor system for people who commit to donating a % of a sale to the Fundraiser. So far we haven't had substantial problems with any transaction, and for that we are a great community. We also have a weekly auction item so I think the members who want to participate will/are.

Hi boys and girls.
Last attempt to see if anyone is keen for my UK 'Salem's Lot 1st edition before I bite the bullet and try Ebay.

Plenty more pictures available on request.
Main points: NOT priceclipped. No spine lean. Very small fine tear on front dust jacket and slight rubbing on top corners of jacket. Book in great condition with expected colourisation of pages for a book this age.

Considering reasonable offers.

Cheers
James

I am offering my two issues of Ubris (Fall '68 and Spring '69) for sale.

Fall '68 contains the first version of 'Strawberry Spring' and the poem 'Harrsion State Park '68'.
Spring '69 contains the first version of 'Night Surf'.

These college era magazines are very, very scarce and could be an awesome and significant addition to your collection. Unfortunately, the Spring '69 copy has some staining on top of the cover and the first few pages, but there is no wrinkling. This particular issue happens to be the hardest one to find so waiting for a better copy to show up will likely take a long, long time. Other than the described flaw, I would say both copies are in VG+/NF condition and look great for their age.

I would very much prefer to sell these as a set. I am open to offers but you should realize that these items are scarce and expensive (comparable to many S/L editions in price).

I do, but I have to be realistic. I am paying for some other books right now, and with some major job-related changes* in my life coming up I will feel better if I can sell some things, pay for my layaways and start with a clean slate.

* this probably belongs in the Random Comments thread, but I just got an offer for a new, exciting job. It has much better perspectives than my current job, but unfortunately I will initially be working only three days/week. So I am going to earn a lot less money than I do now, even though my gross salary will increase. That should be a temporary thing, but I want to play it safe...

Two things:

ONE, I will be listing the Unveiling list again, with revised pricing. Trust me when I say that these are much more agreeable prices. In addition to the new prices, Sharon has agreed that on all orders over $100, we will include free stateside PRIORITY shipping. Everything will be packaged/shipped professionally this time. As far as overseas orders are concerned, we can work something out. Tomorrow (Sunday), 12:00pm, Pacific Time Zone. New prices. I will not be posting pictures this time but will be available to email pictures to you immediately.

TWO, I was going to do an Unveiling Part II with all other Non-King authors, but I think asking right here and now if anyone is interested in any of the following authors would be the best idea.

Dean Koontz
F. Paul Wilson
Clive Barker
H.P. Lovecraft
Isaac Asimov
Jean M. Auel

Please PM me, she has a LOT of signed and/or limited and/or slipcased books by these authors. I don't know much about them, but they look to be VERY collectible. Thank you.

My concern with a second "Unvieling" is that some of the first has not been resolved. I finished payment on a $935 + $5 shipping (and paypal gift fees) on March 2nd. I was told it would be a couple days til the seller would receive the money and then I would be contacted. I wasn't. I sent an email March 8 asking where we where in the process. I received one yesterday saying the seller was out of town and they would get sent out today and no contact or tracking number today also. The odd thing is that when I sent an email saying I was gonna go ahead and just pay the balance ($700), I was emailed back "Friday will be fine, just please don't let the next week start and me npt have any money to give to Sharon, she goes crazy over that type of thing, lol. Thanks again friend! :)" The balance was paid on that friday, so I stand a little confused and worried.

Shannon
03-10-2012, 03:03 PM
I'm sorry you stand a little confused and worried. Thanks for the email voicing your concern, also. That was sarcastic, by the way.

I would have rather done this in private, but seeing as how you somehow want this to be aired publically, ok.

Our original agreement was that you were to pay a quarter of the total by the first of each month. You paid the first one with no problem. Then you tell me in an email that you'll pay me the remainder of the amount, but it will be late by a day or two. That's fine by me, I understand. Thank you.

So, are you with me thus far? You paid me on the second. I immediately took it from PayPal and transferred it to my bank. It hit my bank on the sixth. I took out the money, called up Sharon, and she said she went to visit her son, who is having some medical issues. She was with him Tuesday (6th), Wednesday (7th), and Thursday (8th). We met yesterday after I got off work, I gave her the money and we discussed price and policy (packaging/shipping) changes. She is going to ship them off today and provide me with a tracking number. And of course, that would have been in an email that I was and am going to send your way later today after I hear from her.

Your items will be going out in a priority box, protected and packaged tightly. I charged you five dollars for something that will cost more. You're welcome.

The message I sent you: "Friday will be fine, just please don't let the next week start and me npt (not) have any money to give to Sharon, she goes crazy over that type of thing, lol. Thanks again friend! :)" was a nice way of saying "OK, you're not paying me on the first of the month, which is when our agreement was for, just please don't let next week start and still come up empty handed."

So, in conclusion, I only have two things left: One, thank you for not messaging me first, and Two, do you still stand a little confused and worried?

Garrell
03-10-2012, 03:16 PM
Yes actually I do, communication of this would have been nice in your email, instead of none in a weeks' time. So yes I am still concerned and also point out that I paid gift fees that I was not told about upfront. You were rude on my first payment and I had to paypal you $3 and change to "make it right". Communication goes along way with me. I have purchased from several people here and had no issues, just ask. I am easy to get along with til communication is not there. As for voicing these concerns in forum, it was suggested that I do so by a reliable member here.

Edit: My point is that overall this has not been a pleasant purchase. I am hoping that when the books finally do get here I will have a huge grin and all is forgotting:)

Shannon
03-10-2012, 03:42 PM
You accidentally put "make it right" in quotation marks as if to say that I said that. I did not. This is what I said:

"I received most of your money, lol. Because of the PayPal fee, I only received $96.80 instead of $100.00. If you could send the other $3.20 as a "Gift", then I would receive the full amount, thank you."

Your response was:

"Hi Shannon,
Done...rest will be sent as gift:)"

It later came out on the boards that some people were upset because I was asking them for the full amount of the transactions. I understand that completely. I assumed that people would be sending the full amounts originally, as that is what I always do and it is what MOST of the people did. I assumed wrong. And, because I made the wrong assumption, I offered people --both privately and publically-- their PayPal fees back. Would you like your $3.20 back? I apologize for making the wrong assumption, and it will not be happening again.

As far as communication goes, I will agree, you have been a pleasure dealing with, which is why this public outcry comes as a surprise. As soon as I made plans to meet with Sharon, I kept you updated. You originally would have received your package through the mail at regular / slow speeds, but Sharon is going to be sending your package at a much faster speed so you receive it quicker. Just because. I like you, Garrell, and I hope we can get through this. Adios for now. :)

Sorry if the make right thing was implying that you said it that way, was not what I meant. As far as the paypal gift fees, the total was close to $30 dollars. In your defense, you offered to change it and I said no. I am happy with your post above and glad to see that it is resolved. I was told this should be made public so that others here could see the issue and results, I did not go public on a whim. I am happy with your response and actions and will continue to consider you a friend and do business with you:) Thank you.

There will be no second unveiling until I have been contacted in advance and approve of the usage of the board for one individual.
Additionally, there have been several complaints about the fact that advertised prices had to be sent as "gifts". I myself was upset, but in an effort to "help" a fellow member tossed up the extra few bucks.
Shannon-in all your wisdom, all you had to do was refund the initial payment (where Paypal took a cut) and ask for it as a gift. Essentially you put money in Paypal's pocket at the expense of members/buyers.
Carlosdetwieller mentioned-correctly so, that unless disclosed in advance, Paypal fees are the sellers cost of doing business.
Additionally, if allowed to be posted, every single item should be noted as smelling of cigarette smoke. I am still working on removing the smell from the books I purchased. They are in my garage and airing out.

I think you should refund every member who paid more because you assumed (even if you have an email stating something along the lines of-"ah, never mind, I'll pay"), but did not state that payments must be sent as a gift. Our group here is comprised of kind and generous people who rather than complain simply ponied up the additional fees. They/we were (at least I was), trying to buy something they were interested in, and also help a neophyte to our fraternity of collectors.

"There will be no second unveiling until I have been contacted in advance and approve of the usage of the board for one individual."

Isn't this a "For Sale" classifieds board? That's all I'm doing. Placing items up for sale. I'm confused. And yes, I planned on noting the smoke smell in the next ad. I will also be requesting IN THE AD that people send me money using the gift option on PayPal.

It just blows my mind. Almost everyone I have bought things from in the past has requested that I use the PayPal Gift option. I didn't know this was a unwarranted request.

I don't look at people asking me for their PayPal fee back as complaining. Not at all. I say again, one last time, lol, if anyone would like their PayPal fee returned --for any reason--, please contact me and you will have it sent to you immediately. Thank you.

Shannon
03-10-2012, 07:08 PM
And also, I forgot to mention, I've said this privately to everyone, but since I have a letter A on my chest right now, I want to say this publically as well:

If your books have a smoke smell that you are not OK with, contact me for a full refund. Simple as that. We'll start back at square one. Thank you.

This is a Collectibles Classifieds thread, and members are encourage to sell here, however, no member has the "right" to sell here. If members are displeased with transactions conducted here, they are encouraged to work the issue out in private, but not wait too long for an issue to be resolved, as other members might alerted to potential problems with a seller.
Additionally, you were allowed to conduct a sale through our "wiki". No other member has been afforded that luxury-and I doubt ever will be again.
If you are dissatisfied with those parameters, then I suggest you try Ebay, where you will find that most every auction has a fee, every sale has a fee, and Paypal (which is owned by Ebay) has a fee.

Shannon
03-10-2012, 09:16 PM
I asked permission to use the Wiki section to post the pictures. You said yes. This is not the first time you've held that over my head. If you had any problem with it whatsoever at the time, I would have found another way to post the pictures, maybe on a geocities website or something. (Do they even still make those? lol) But anyway, the sale ran smoothly, with the only exception being that there was confusion at the beginning. It is completely your decision to not allow it again, and I understand that perfectly.

I'm still confused as to why I wouldn't be allowed to sell items here anymore. It's like I'm being banned. I sold items to members, the members received the items. Any members that had ANY problems, I have been extremely helpful and fair. With the exception of a member that decided to cancel a transaction due to the smoke smell complaint, every member that has bought something from me has been satisfied. There was horrible packaging, but no books were damaged. There was a smoke smell on some of the items, yet no one has asked for a refund. I do not see the problem here.

How do you other members feel about my temporary banning? Honestly, anyone that has dealt with me, not only in the past with MY sales, but with this Unveiling, please come forward and voice your opinion. Be open and honest, does anyone here think I should not be allowed to use this forum to sell Stephen King items? Maybe I'm just crazy for thinking this, but Jerome, I think you might be the only one. If that is the case, I hope you can look past your personal feelings on this issue, thank you.

I was looking forward to The Unveiling - Part 2. The items I bought in Part 1 were exactly as described (mine didn't smell of smoke), were packaged well and arrived promptly. The asking for additional funds to make up PayPal fees was a bit of a surprise but, in my case, it was only about $3 so I paid it, chalked it up to a relative newbie in the business and moved on. I was offered to receive a refund on those funds but declined. I thought the sale went as well as could be expected since there was a "middle man" involved which, I imagine, made things more cumbersome than dealing directly with the seller. From my point of view I would like to see another sale of this type.

I agree with Bob. I didn't buy anything from the first "unveiling" but I did buy some items before that and had no problems whatsoever. I also, although I'm pretty well tapped out now, was/am looking forward to the second round.

I give kudos to Shannon for middlemanning (I think I just made up that word!) the first sale. Also, the issues that arose (bad packaging, somky smell) he seemed to have made a genuine effort to correct. I bought two books. I alerted Shannon via e-mail (not the forum) about the packaging, along with photos. He was about as distraght over that issue as a seller could be and offered to make things right if needed. Luckily the books themselves escaped damge. As for a smoky smell, well, I don't know. My sinuses are bad enough that I'm not going to pick it up easily even if it is there. And I put the books on my shelf and haven't even gotten around to really inspecting them.

The whole thing with the PayPal fees was really weird, though. Those fees are on the seller. I've never heard of a seller coming back and asking for a "gift" to offset his fees. But, like Bob said, it was only a few bucks and it's not going to break me. I just figured Shannon was unaware of the protocols of selling and it's not worth making a deal over. But if we have another sale, the seller (any seller) should be responsible for the fees. Paying in the form of a "gift" as fee avoidance means that the buyer receives NO safeguards as far as refunds or dealing with PayPal for a sale gone bad. I have no reason to believe that Shannon would let a situation get like that, but as a general rule a buyer who pays for merchandise via a PayPal "gift" is leaving himself open.

Of course I think Shannon should be allowed to sell on the forum. Either for himself or for Sharon or whomever. I'm sure the lessons that have been learned will make a second sale go even better.

Thank everyone for your support. I will be posting the Revised Unveiling as soon as Garrell receives his items, which will be in the next day or so. So, with that being said:

Revised Unveiling
Saturday, March 17th, 12pm Pacific Time Zone
same items, new prices

Like I said before, these prices are MUCH more reasonable. If there was anything that you were interested in in the first Unveiling, but you thought was priced way too high, stay tuned.

Notes:

- All (most) of the items have the potential to smell like smoke. If you purchase an item and decide that the smoke smell is too much when it arrives, I will give you a full refund.

- US Priority shipping will be included for any orders over $100. International shipping will be discounted, and discussed on an individual basis. Everything will be packaged and protected properly.

- I will be requesting that all money be sent through PayPal using the GIFT option. Just a heads up.

- I will be posting the list of items and the new prices. The old "picture pages" have been deleted, but I still have all of the original pictures and will be emailing said pictures to potential buyers for approval before a transaction is struck.

That's about it. Thank you.

P.S. ... one more note:

- The Regulators S/L is back up for grabs, and at a lower price.

Interesting that the My Pretty Pony is offered at less than issue price. If someone wants it, that is a good price.

The prices are VERY GOOD. I sincerely want the TDT Members to have an opportunity to enjoy these items as much as i have. Not looking to make a lot of money here. If I sold all of these at the prices listed, I would break-even after shipping, etc. I absolutely would prefer to keep them in the family!

Some incredible prices. i have seen the 1/1,000 Dolan's Cadillac selling for close to the price you are offering the 1/250.
Members-check it out, here is the catalog entry for a 1/250 Dolan's Cadillac (these are actually images of an unnumbered-"Tabitha King" copy)

I agree. AKC's prices are very competitive and he seems like a dedicated and conscientious seller. I'd be all over that Dolan's Cadillac and the Black House had I not just bought another one of his offerings a few days ago.

Are the 1/250 Dolan Cadillac's actually numbered? David also has a copy available for sale at Bett's, but explicitly says that his copy has no number. Do any of them?

Of course they are numbered...

There are many states of this book. I have an unnumbered 1/1000 version.

Randall Flagg
03-15-2012, 11:08 AM
Lord John Press did numerous variations on the 1/1,000 and the 1/250. I haven't seen, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did different states of the lettered 1/26.

Some of the 1/250 copies had names in them rather than a number. The one in our Catalog was Tabitha King's.

Yes, I know the prices on the S/Ls are still a bit high. But you have to admit, they are a lot better than last time, lol. And, this time, priority shipping is included, and this time ... I've been given a little more flexibility.

Please, if there is an item anyone is interested in, send me a message with a price in mind. I can't work miracles, but I can help out the best I can. Thank you.

You may already know this, but this looks like it belonged to Galad Elflandsson. He had a book (The Black Wolf (https://secure.grantbooks.com/z-author-elflandson-galad.html)) published by Donald M. Grant, who also signed this book, in 1979:

Possibly "Teena" and "Galad"?
It was alot of fun to have met you both (again) and I'm really looking forward to seeing you both again. Many thanks for the Greek dinner too! Love to you both-Andrea Holland?

Looks right to me, but I'll have to trust you on the signature. The other page definitely says, "to Teena Elflandsson... loveliest of Canadians. From Jim Turner with best wishes."

Boys and Girls.
I have a heap of UK book club editions, which are nothing better than reading copies, but I thought I'd see if anyone here is looking for anything like these.
All are in good condition except for Rose Madder which has spine fading and stupid price stickers on it. These are all smaller than their 1st edition cousins, except for Thinner and Dead Zone.

Anyway, if anyone wants some reading copies let me know...

For anyone interested in the publisher INFERNAL HOUSE:

Brian Keene - Darkness on the Edge of Town
Edward Lee - Haunter of the Threshold
Jack Ketchum - The Woman

Anyone who has seen these books know that they put most limited editions to shame in terms of production values and aesthetics. They retail for $175 each.

I'm looking for $400 for ALL THREE. Including shipping within North America.

Hi guys.
I have two of these promotional book marks available, and all I ask is that you make a new donation to the fundraiser (as much as you want), and I'll send it to you free anywhere in the world.

The WTTKH can only be ordered in Waterstones store in the UK and Ireland at the moment, There are 150 copies been sold this way, then on the 24th they are releasing the remaining 50 for Web sales, There is no information on the Waterstones website at all about this so besides people talking about it in forums, I'm not really sure how the information is getting round, maybe this is there way of selling the books to true SK fans and not to people trying to double there money on Ebay.

I would like to make a small contribution to the Haven Foundation Fundraiser by offering a near fine proof copy of Stephen King: Uncollected, Unpublished for sale (I stole the image from John's collection thread but actual photos will be available upon request). I don't think I've seen another copy for sale since I got mine two years ago.

Jerome granted me permission to post this here. All profits will go towards the Fundraiser. Be aware that I will be shipping this from Europe!

The starting bid is $19. Please PM me your bid and I will update this post with the current highest bid.

Even though I was just dismissing the Kindle in another thread, I want to let everyone know about the Kindle publication of my full-length book - CAN'T GIVE THIS WAR AWAY: THREE IRAQI SUMMERS OF CHANGE AND CONFLICT - about my embedded trips to Iraq as a freelance photojournalist. I broke the whole book into individual chapters.

You can see all of them here: http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B007TA1LOI

If you're interested, each e-book is one chapter of the full book. Some, but not all, of the pictures are included. You can read on a Kindle, of course, and it's also very easy to download Amazon's Kindle-to-PC software, and just read it on your computer.

Start at the first chapter: http://www.amazon.com/Cant-Give-This-Away-ebook/dp/B007TC86UI/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpt_2

The individual e-books are only from $.99 to $1.99, so I hope you're interested enough to throw down a cup of coffee and see what you think!

If Iraq's not your thing, this one on ticket scalping is pretty good too (I think): http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007T07XSG

Is there a real book (nonkindle) version of the second book?

Which one? The scalping one? (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007T07XSG)

It's easy to read on the PC...somewhere on the 'buy' page, there's a link to Amazon's "Kindle-to-PC" And then you can read it on the screen. So you don't need a Kindle.

But no - there's no "real" version...it's only 25 pages (at least until I get a book contract to write the full-length version).

Also, thanks Tito_Villa - he's read the "real" printed version of the (expensive) Iraq book so I appreciate his endorsement!

(I could obviously email a PDF, but if you buy a copy it will show up in the sales figures, and it doesn't take many sales to appear on Amazon's 'bestselling' list...then hopefully a few strangers might be interested too...)

Yes, I meant the scalping one. I always prefer a hardcopy book to an ebook. If one isn't available though I'll still read the electronic one. The Iraq one isn't my sort of thing. I have little to no interest in war

Yeah, me too...despite that I'm using the Kindle format for these.

Post an Amazon review if you read it - but an honest review! Obviously, I hope you love it, of course, but I'm not that interested in 'shill' five-star reviews...I don't think they serve any purpose. But even a negative review gives the product a little credibility (and I think you'll like it).

Brice
04-16-2012, 12:09 PM
I will. :)

Being a Boston fan and also going to a few hundred concerts and hanging out with some of the scalpers made it so I was immediately interested in the book.

You'd get no shill review from me even if that was what you wanted. I tend to always say what I think.

Rahfa
04-16-2012, 01:16 PM

In Minnesota scalping has been legal now for a few years. I remember in the "old days" I would have the two tickets in a paper dixie cup.
The tickets were face value-which was legal- and the dixie cup they were in was like $100 or so.
Now you can sell tickets in front of police no big deal at all.
So you see the same guys out at every event-whether it is hockey, basketball or football etc.
Probably a lot cheaper than Stub Hub-with their VERY high sell prices.

Rahfa
04-16-2012, 01:26 PM
Yeah, even in Boston it's technically illegal, but there's little/no enforcement. The "dixie cup" or "program" or "map of the park" were always good subterfuges...haha...

Most of the teams are in bed with either Stub Hub or ticket agencies now anyway.

(Here's what we're talking about...just $1.99 to check it out!: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007T07XSG )

Oh, I wasn't very clear I suppose. The scalpers I hung around were mostly at concerts. I am a Boston fan, but I've never been to a single game.

All that matters is that it's an event that needs a ticket - there is no distinction between sports or concerts...the faces are the same.

(as you'll see...my main 'character' does two events in one night - Bruins, then a concert)

Shannon
04-16-2012, 03:15 PM
I belong to a program/website here in Vegas that gives its members (first come, first serve) tickets to shows that don't sell out. I bought in for $100 for the year. Every night, there are crappy/average comedy shows, magicians, impressionists, etc. But every now and then the big shows come up. I've seen Blue Man Group a bunch of times, The Lion King, Jabbawockeez, Terry Fator, Bob Saget, Jerry Seinfeld, etc. Last night Amber and I saw The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas brand new musical. It was fun.

But ... to my point, lol ... If a big show comes up and Amber and I don't feel like seeing it, we sell them. Either to our friends for a $25-50 each or we walk the casino floors and sell them to tourists. Not only got my money's worth out of this program/website but have MADE my money's worth also, lol.

I was able to get JAS and FDNS for $185 from Betts. Last week. I guess what i was thinking was starting around INsomnia and newer I personally do not want to pay more. Given my recent string of good luck -- getting SK to sign CArrie, stand, the shining, the gunslinger, rage, etc... I dont have to buy the higher priced ticket items for a signature. I am trying to restrict myself to that range. I want to get all 1st editions signed eventually! That is my goal!

I was curious as to what the range would be for SK flatsigned books. Do you know of any catalogue or price guide for signed SK books? I have not seen any.

I am trying to limit myself to $200 (and under) on signed books by SK.

That's really gonna narrow your options, no? As a general rule (not counting S/L) I think a range of $225-$325 covers most (post-Doubleday) editions IMHO

Hey, that was a good price for JAS. I remember when they first came out they were running for $250-350, n=but that was a "Hyper" market just after the release.

No. I have never heard of a 1/1 signed price reference guide other than consulting folks here on your purchases. Fortunately, this is a great and helpful community!!!! Would be a great idea for some industrious member to work on or, maybe Tomas, the skcollector, could be persuaded. He already does price index's for 1/1 and S/L based on ebay and Abebooks.

George Beahm's "Stephen King Collectibles" was a really good reference/price guide...but it is kind of dated.

I like this idea. Since you are new to the boards and from the sounds of it have a huge collection this may be the best bet.
