If anyone would like to come to the Bradenton event as my guest, I am asking $150, and you have to give me the signed copy of Revival at the end of the night.

Or, $400 and you keep the signed Revival.

I have "Advocate" tickets, which in addition to seeing the event, allows you to buy a signed book, and get you in to the wine and cheese reception (not the one King is attending).

PM me if interested.

Argh! 24 hours after spending money on some sports collectibles, a Christine S/L comes up for sale. My NBA memorabilia needed to feel the love too though.

But, since you're in a selling mode, do you have a Shining 1/1 you'd be interested in parting with?

Just a matter of time before the others are snatched up.....

Yeah, but will be selling a few items too. Took the opportunity to acquire Cook's matching IT set and will soon be selling my S/L IT and Art Portfolio that are not matching.

As for the 'Salem's, I think it's important to grab 'em while u can!

Yesterday's acquisitions were more about "upgrading" than acquiring new items.

But yeah, all-in-all, a great week!

Thanks fellas....

It really annoying that the only thing preventing me from buying all of these wonderful items is just a simple lack of disposable income - why am I being made to suffer just because of that??

In the hopes that we will finally be leaving South Carolina soon, I thought I'd try selling a few things that I have hanging around on here before putting them on ebay.

Joyland Collector slipcase-- I bought it from Tippy in June, but I now have a Dolso to replace it! I am just looking to get what I paid for it, which I think was $25 + shipping. And I will throw in some paperback from my donation stack so that I can send it media mail. SOLD!

Holdorf Pet Sematary: $40 + shipping SOLD!

Holdorf Salem's Lot: $20 + shipping

Holdorf The Stand $20 + shipping

All prices Paypal Family/Gift w/ media mail. I'll gladly ship Priority and I'll even ship overseas, although shipping costs may outweigh book prices.

Pictures available if you like. Thanks!

BUMP. I'll be listing the final 2 Holdorfs on ebay this weekend, but let me know if you are interested. Thanks!

These are now on ebay along with one of Jeff's The Bachman Books slipcase. Just looking to get what I put into each. Thanks!

For some reason, my Roadwork won't fit, but not everyone has that issue. The slipcase is 7 1/16" tall, if that helps.

Is that the vertical opening size? Dead sure on the measurement?

Jeff will make the case to the measurements of YOUR books - just email him the size. He doesn't have a bunch of cases pre-made waiting for orders...

EDIT: Mine fits fine...

Yes. I measured twice, and then gave it to my boyfriend for his measurement. That is the exact vertical opening size. I can squeeze my book in, but it was started to bend a little.

I'm sure Jeff will, and mean no disrespect to him. I didn't order it originally, so I had no hand in its creation.

I have a different case but what you see it that with my books the running man is the highest,
seam to be common that they differ in size a little

Hey guys, as much as it pains me to do this... I am offering up my latest Whelan acquisition for sale. I don't sell very often but money is a tad tight and I am after a member's painting and thus need more funds to get it from them. I am posting pictures (more if you need them) of this gem. It truly is an amazing production. SUPER high end... right into lettered quality. The embossing and feel of this is second to none... The book wasn't cheap and the extra I put into the remarque which many of you seem to love. The only reason I am parting with it is for this painting. PERIOD. I am open to offers...

Spent one night in Miami recently. GF booked us one night there because we flew out of there, following 5 days in the Treasure Island area and then 4 days meandering around the Keys.

As far as I'm concerned you can keep the whole goddamned state. I'm obligated to go there every year because she and her parents have been going there every year since time immemorial, but I don't like it.

Any interest in DT comics? I have every single issue except for The Long Road Home arc. The first story arc alone (The Gunslinger Born) I have all 7 regular covers, 7 colour variants and 7 b/w Jae Lee sketch variants + some later printing variants. One of the Lee variants is signed. These were not cheap at the time.

I'd sell the whole lot for cheaper than you think. All bagged and boarded. Nothing wrong with the books but I'm in the process of streamlining my comics collection. I'm selling a lot of singles and getting deluxe hardcovers and omnibus editions.

Since there are no fees, and the buyer sends their money in good faith, knowing that (VERY rarely), the seller could default, you need to be vouched for.

Absolutely. Couldn't have said it better.
In certain situations, I could facilitate by holding the funds in escrow, but no matter what, there is a great deal of faith here. On ebay there is quite a bit more protection for a buyer.
This is a seller's paradise. No fees, no risk, little or no repercussions.

I also like RF's offer of acting as a trustee.

Randall Flagg

I don't want to be a trustee, but at some point the site can't be a conduit for sellers and buyers without changes to things.
Sellers here in the past have saved quite a bit in fees; and buyers have received good deals. We barely received $2,400 to keep the site ad free for 2015, yet zero from sellers and buyers.
Inevitably, that will change.

I'm just spitballing here, but maybe a "Buyer/Seller" annual membership may be in order? IDK, say $25 a year to be able to purchase or sell on the site? Like I said just throwing things out there. Seems reasonable to me. Anyone?

I don't know about the logistics of it, but maybe you could get a cool "Ka" sign in your profile if you have paid in? Again, just throwing things out there.

Considering ebay charges a 10% commission fee for every item sold on their site, an annual fee of $25 is too small to meet the ongoing running costs of this forum.

I would think an annual selling fee of $75 is more appropriate to meet these costs and to keep the site add free. I think it would also be reasonable for members wishing to sell on this site to be required to make a donation of $50 to the HF.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Merlin1958
01-24-2015, 04:25 PM
As I said I was just throwing idea's out there. Certainly $50 is not much to ask, but as far as the HF thing goes, as much as I would love it I don't think one has anything to do with the other. I hate to say that as the "HF Whore", but right is right. Now maybe a consideration for the HF in some form? I just don't know. Ultimately it's, Jerome's very difficult decision to make, fortunately not mine. Good to see this being discussed though. I, personally think it is long overdue.

Ongoing sales are not going to be tied to the fundraiser.
This has more to do with people using the goodwill and reputation of the site to conduct fee free transactions. In almost every case the seller and buyer are happy. We've only (IIRC) had two sellers burn a buyer.
I have no idea who mcwheels is, but he/she certainly came here to sell something and so far no one else can vouch for him/her. mcwheels has obviously not participated on the site by posting. I used to just rip people like this, but I'm getting soft.
Caveat emptor.

Just a thought; most forums that I'm on have a separate sub-forum for buying and selling.
Members are not allowed access to it until they have 50-100 posts.

That's one way to establish familiarity with a seller first and prevent fly by sales.

Nope. A new member offering a book doesn't hurt anyone. Just don't buy from someone you don't know if you don't like the risk - there's no need to lock people out. Besides, new buyers would be locked out too.

I understand none of you guys know who I am, that's why I'm offering pictures to prove I'm not just running a scam. :)

It's kind of a long story how I ended up with one of these. I'm not sure if I posted about this here, I thought it was on a different Stephen King message board but now I can't find it so maybe it was here, anyway about a year and a half ago I discovered I had a partially finished manuscript that Stephen King sent me in the mail as a gift after I met him through the Make-A-Wish Foundation when I was 13 years old (this is back in 1987 or so). It was called "Phil and Sundance", and it was this trippy story about little people living in a suburban neighborhood that this kid discovers. Anyway when I discovered I still had this crazy piece of a collector's item I thought I'd try selling it online, but Cemetery Dance ended up contacting me and trading one of those "It"s for it instead. I'm now realizing I may have gotten somewhat of the short end of the stick by getting one of the PC copies instead of a unique lettered edition, not to mention I could have probably made MUCH more money selling it to a collector, but I guess Mr. King himself preferred that they have control over it rather than some random person so I decided to just go with that. I'm selling it just because I need to raise some money, so maybe hearing this story gives me a little street cred. :)

I am not advocating locking people out per se, I am suggesting that the privilege of being able to sell items on this thread should be earned through contribution and built up trust. Having a minimum of 100 posts built through continued contribution is a good thing, both for the site and to protect fellow members.

Yes, we are all big boys and girls, and there are no guarantees in life - but why perpetuate the risk of being burned?

The topic of new members trying to sell items on their first post has been brought up before...

Remember the infamous Jackpoint and his copy of Rage?

This was RF's response on that matter:

I'm in no way suggesting I speak for RF, but I believe his initial comments were more around being able to sell here for free, and that being a bit of an issue especially for people who only come here to sell out of the blue before offering anything else to the site (comments, opinions etc).

It sounded to me as though we may be heading towards a cost to do business here as opposed to restricting who can sell/buy. Not sure how that would be enforced here if that is the case however...

But that is all speculation from my perception of what I've read here lately, and so I guess we will just have to wait and see what, if anything, RF has planned.

My two cents on this are that, whoever comes here to sell, should try to present themselves and be 'polite', and not just say, from their very first post : selling this, here is a link, and that, here is a link, etc (which is, for me, always suspicious for scam / spam / malware etc).

It's not just being polite, it's also common sense : reputation is very important, especially if you want to sell several items worth hundreds of bucks, and you may have to spend more than 2 minutes in order to reassure people about your offers.

bdwyer19
01-26-2015, 03:51 AM
Having someone build up a reputation before selling makes perfect sense. It works the same on eBay. How likely are you to buy something from a seller who has a feedback score of zero, compared to someone who's been selling for a much longer period of time and has the feedback to back it up?

Since there are a few regular sellers offering Signed Revivals from the Bradenton event, I guess I will have to wait until the time is right or someone who desires one has a trade of something.
I considered posting some for sale prior to the event as I still have from our Kansas City - Wichita - Portland trip, however in advertising as in life often, "If you snooze, you lose !"

I'm still new around here, so this may have been discussed previously (and this may not be the place to ask, sorry), but has it ever been considered to make both this thread and the King Books/Items Wanted thread stickies?

From the perspective of a novice collector new to the site, those threads stick out for me as places I want to check often. I have subscribed to both, so I have no issue finding them, but didn't even realize they existed until I had been browsing the site a while.

I could also see where the primary purpose of the site is meant to be for sharing information and having conversation with like-minded people and not for selling/buying and you are wary of "advertising" that too much. From what I gather this thread was originally meant to only be temporary, so I can see the hesitation if leaving it open at all was already questionable in the site owner's eyes.

brilliant strategy, I did not take the bait, but I am sure you got a few PMs. You must be an economy major, like me! The price of Dr. sleep fell dramatically because of supply, Betts books did a great job selling REVIVAL at $275, after this event, I was hoping everyone would stick close to that price, but at least some lucky buyers are getting a great deal! You have to factor in hotel, airfare, price of tickets, aggravation in dealing with event organizers, rule changes, etc.... And quality of book! I loved this story way more than Dr. Sleep.

My extra 14 copies will be sitting on my shelf for a while (i guess). Unless betts needs more,

IMO, the price should be what you paid (for only the book) + King signature. I wouldn't factor in travel, etc...

It was your choice to go to the event why should consumers pay for that aspect of it?

Of course, there's also market value. If they're selling at a higher price, go for it.

I would value a genuine signed Revival at around $100.

So the PS Carrie Lettered you have for sale in your signature (For sale: Carrie PS Lettered PM offer please) will be sold what YOU paid for it? It was your choice to buy it, why should consumers pay more than you paid for it?

You valuing a signed Revival at $100 is your choice, but the market values them at significantly more. If your comment was a solicitation to buy a copy at that price, it was, in my opinion, a low-ball offer.

PET SEMATARY first edition, the best one we've seen outside of a collection in awhile:

Jacket price $15.95, "First Edition" stated on copyright page. Minor foxing to page-edges and the expected light, even toning. Spine is straight and nice; and the jacket quite nice, with excellent color, minor chips only and a few closed tears.

Open to all offers.

From time to time different threads have been suggested to be "stickied", but at some point we might have 20 threads stuck atop the forum. I prefer for threads to populate to the top when members post.

Sorry to keep this off-topic a little bit, but I have to throw in that this MUST be a parody post. I'm sorry, but otherwise it makes so little sense that one can't even argue with it.

The price of a book is what people are willing to pay. Market value is ALL that matters. Part of the reason a book is expensive is because of the effort that went into it - or it's rarity, etc. I guess you must farm all your food, and milk cows in your backyard.

True 1st. VG- condition book w/proper $8.95 Dustjacket that is marred by someone other than King signing in felt pen "Stephen King" on the front.
Book is ex library and has some library stamping etc. but is clearly a Maine library (Tompson Free library loaner) edition probably from day one; which makes it interesting.

Make offer, but please be nice enough to not waste time.

I believe on ebay the book will fetch several hundred dollars, so something mutually beneficial with no fees would be best.

Apologies in advance for the shameless self promotion.
I know it's not King, but there are some really cool Robert McCammon signed items I just put up on ebay, with several more to come. No reserve and they all start at $1.19.
Check out this auction, then click on seller's other items:

Wow, is that where the market is on these editions? Now I regret donating my copy a few years ago. God bless ya, Garrell. It is a really handsome and well done edition. Don't take the fact that he is a "Crimson Tide" fan into account. Other than that, he is a gentleman and a scholar!!!

Would anyone be interested in trading a signed numbered limited edition of Doctor Sleep for a signed numbered limited edition of The Shining?

I had a friend who was supposed to trade me, but it looks like that won't happen. So, I may be able to get a Doctor Sleep from him. Just testing the waters here first. ;) If you can't PM me, email me at beneadsfiction@gmail.com

Thanks!

At the risk of duplicating myself (and I apologize in advance if this is against forum decorum), but I just posted this in the PS Publishing thread, and figured that it probably fit better in the Classifieds...so will repeat it here:

Does anyone in the U.S.* want to trade their Fine/Fine signed/numbered PS Pub. HC of THINNER for my Fine/Fine signed/numbered PS Pub. HC of CARRIE?

* To keep shipping costs low for both parties.

For trade only....
Signed Revival 1st/1st trade edition, premium condition, no bent corners, beautiful jacket. Complete with ticket & event information from Wichita event this last year. Also comes w/DT.org bookmarks (someone from our group was distributing these)

My trade request is for an exchange with a DT.org member who attended & might have an extra signed book from a different S/K event or signing.
I'm not real picky as to which event, just something I don't have. I did attend the Doctor Sleep event so I'm good there.
Feel free to PM

Hi all,

First of I don't know if it's the right place to put this but if not I apologize.

I finally decided to sell (almost) all my book collection, including Centipede Press. Other press have been for sale in the last couple of months. I hate to do it but priorities have changed and I debated a long time with myself over this.

The funds will go toward a project that I've been dreaming of for many years.

You can check my collection through my library at http://www.librarything.com/catalog/jeromelucpaulin or you can send me a private message by email at jerome.luc.paulin at google mail for a detailed pdf file. Maybe some of you already received it from Jerad at Centipede.

Be aware that I wanted Centipede Press mailing list subscriber to have first shot on this so some books are already sold but many still available.

All best,
Jerome
