I bought one last year and I believe Tom did too. My copy is very nice (not perfect) and I paid £800 for it. By far the most expensive book I own!

Yeah mine is an ex-library copy, not great but i payed half of what Michaël did!

And unfortunately, the Joe Hill market i think has really dipped since the hype of Horns died down. Though it might pick up when he releases new material!?

I don't know if it is going to pick up that much. I think the fact that you can still buy the traycased version of Horns from the publisher shows that demand for his collectible books is extremely low. Plus, his signature is everywhere - books, comics, keys...he even signed copies of the new Locke and Key Card Game. Having Joe's signature in a book isn't hard to get at all. Just my two cents worth...

That's true. That whole "new item" mentality may generate a renewed desire for his S/L books.

I always thought that it was slightly ridiculous that all of Joe's books got the limited edition treatment from Day One. I really like his books but he is far from being a true 'established' author and his hardcore fanbase hasn't reached the critical mass yet that is necessary to support the production of all these S/Ls.

And like Eric says, his sig is everywhere. I don't even collect signed books and I have two or three Joe Hill sigs in my collection.

Yes, Joe Hill signs to much.
Tks god his German signed doodled quoted books have the same ´high value´.
They are definitely harder to find then the 1000 US sig books, comics, keys...
OK,the German JH sig books are not so hard to find, i´am the owner from most of them

I think it´s hard to estimate values on proofs .

I know one copy that sold for $60 , but on the other hand John had one for sale at $950
So somewhere in between those numbers

Are you planning on selling a copy ? If so i´m really interested in that one .

I'm looking for a 1st/1st of The Shining, and came across a UK 1/1 for sale for $200. I know US first editions have a value of $200-300. Are the UK editions worth roughly the same?

The early books, definitely. I'd say that the British editions of CARRIE and NIGHT SHIFT and THE STAND are even more expensive than their US counterparts.

Current market value may differ, but as I recall the UK edition of "The Shining" was significantly more valuable than the US. Of course I bought mine a while ago and I think I paid around $350-400 from Hutch which means, the book was in great condition!!!!

One more question on the UK Shining... the copies I've seen for sale all mention deckled pages. Was that common for the UK edition?

I paid $500 for mine last year from David at betts. Besides the age browning of the outer page block, it's as close as Fine as you can find. Also did not have the 'R' stamped on the tittle page, which is also very common.

Good for Bad Moon Books (and ouch to the buyer). He has listed another. Presuming he can keep selling copies @ $850, he will do well.
