The Dickens set originally belonged to my Grandfather and he passed them to my Dad. My Dad gave them to me about a year ago. Dad said he had researched them on the internet and every set he saw seemed to be missing a few of the books that my set has. I seem to recall that he said they were from the 1930's, 1936 if I recall correctly. I have 16 books in the set but all the sets my Dad found on the internet I think he said only had 13 books.

Kind of blows my Dad's research out. Apparently there are 16 in the set and they are circa 1950 if the preloved ad is correct. Then it appears there was a similar set with blue boards.

Seems they are not particularly scarce or valuable. No matter though, still a nice set to own and the sentimental value in my set means more that any monetary value.
