SO details are being revealed about "Stephen King revisited". A bit disappointed as I was expecting something a bit... different.
To me it resonates with the "Rereading Stephen King" on the Guardian.

Well, hopefully some readers will find value in Richard's posts, Bev Vincent's comprehensive history of every book King has written, and the guest posts by friends and fellow writers who know King's work better than anyone!

Whenever someone posts that they're disappointed with something that is free, it reminds me that you really can't please everyone.

    Brian
I'd have to say that regardless if something is free or not, that doesn't mean that he doesn't have the right to be disappointed. I can think of a lot of things that are/were free that disappointed me. It would be different if he said he was angry or upset.

You are right though.. you will never be able to please everyone but I think overall that CD does a really good of pleasing most and they will go to great extremes to do so

Was it the Guardian blog or the Tor blog where they stopped around the late 1980s with an essay about how terrible King's writing was... leaving me to wonder why they had ever started the project in the first place?

It was interesting to see Bev's essay on Carrie, I thought the phone call was about the movie rights and not the paperback rights.... did he get $400,000 for movie rights? and then buy the present? I thought that was story he told at Boston Mass....

I would be interested in seeing the list of pre Carrie books ... published and unpublished.

    I assume they are
    Rage
    The Long Walk
    Roadwork
    Running Man
    Blaze

    unpublished titles?

I was a little disappointed at first, but after thinking about it I think it will be fun to read. If you haven't read any of Bev's descriptions/reviews of King books then you are missing out.

$400k for paperback rights, split 50/50 with Doubleday. I've never seen the amount for the movie rights, but it wasn't much.

I watched Biography with Stephen King last weekend and they mention that the phone call was $400,000 for the paperback rights to Carrie. Biography was actually pretty good, a lot of information about him growing up and writing reviews with his brother.

I like it. I enjoyed Bev's historical perspective and look forward to Richard's and others' input.

I didn't say that it wont be interesting. Just that I am disappointed, because of all the great and innovative projects CD does... and I think that it's not innovative as such. Will probably have different twists and interesting takes about the books though!

I've somehow missed out on the Stephen King Revisted emails. Did I miss an email or something?

Upon reflection, and after reviewing my first edition Oxford English Dictionaries from the last 100 years, it is clear that the English language is evolving-perhaps quicker than I can keep pace.
Side boob, Bro hug, shit-weasel; such strange words-sayings.

Another member; I am loathe to mention who, sent me this:

For all those who are ready to set their quills to parchment and declare the end of the English language, now that such frivolous terms are getting respect from Oxford, please keep in mind that this is not the Oxford English Dictionary. That arm of the family is more like the serious and intellectual grandfather who constantly withholds his approval from younger generations. In other words, the OED editors require words to have much more historical, significant impact before adding them to that reference.

Interesting running commentary, however isn't it a bit off topic? You don't want to get bitch slapped by, RF now do you? He can get pretty cranky, as folks with a very small penis tend to be.
