I was never a fan of the Dirty Harry movies. IMHO, I believe them to be somewhat of an acquired taste.
With regard to people quoting them all the time (even President Reagan), there is a sharp distinction between a great scene and a great line.
And anyway, I thought this tournament was to find the best movie scene, not the best quote from a movie scene.
Stand by Me is a great movie, but I don't think that the "What is Goofy" scene is one of its best moments. I will however, "second" any of the following scenes if they are nominated....
Who the fuck is Mr. Skin?
Those two are so bad, they are actually quite good. In addition, they are both considerably funnier and more entertaining, than a lot of scenes that have been selected so far.
I did have 'Tony Montana' as an avatar back in 2015; but this was only to support the 'gangster' theme that was being utilised for the Haven Foundation fundraiser, not because I particularly enjoyed the movie.

Scarface is okay, but I wouldn't consider it to be one of the greatest gangster films of all time. That's why I chose to nominate scenes from The Godfather, Goodfellas and The Untouchables instead.
7th Nomination
John Hughes deserves his place in our little competition. One of the most influential movies of the 1980s. The perfect song, with a perfect speech, for a perfect ending, to a perfect film.

Peter Finch got so worked up doing this scene, he had a heart attack. He died a few months after filming wrapped. He became the first posthumous Best Actor Oscar Winner. Interesting that the next (for best supporting actor) would be Heath Ledger. Both men were Australians.
40 years down the road and this scene could not feel more relevant.

Spoilers - Yes, although I feel like the scene is pretty classic so if you haven't seen the movie you probably know what happens. But if you haven't seen the movie yet, then you probably don't have intentions to watch the whole thing, in which case I would encourage you to at least watch this scene.

The Houston Astros cheated Major League Baseball from 2017-18!!!! Is that how we teach our kids to play the game now?????
I think unlimited nominations and a waiting period of 2 between nominations would help tremendously at this point.
