I'm all over the soccer coverage.
So when you go to mexico do you call it soccer or futbol? Which do you think of it as? I'm just curious.
The only time I refer to it as soccer is when I'm talking about it with a non-Spanish speaking/American crowd.
English speaking Europeans know it as football.

Our ladies swimming team wasn't able to defend their Olympic title on the 4x100 m relay this time (they won gold in Beijing and they also won several world championships) but they still finished second! Wooohooo! Our gymnast Epke Zonderland finished first in the high bar qualifications. Finals on August 7...

How the heck is there no Olympics thread?
How's everyone's country doing? Canada isn't getting as many golds as we did in Vancouver but we're still near the top for overall medal count. The hockey has been great too watch and there has been a lot of good moments so far, like Junio Gilmour giving up his spot to his Canadian Speed Skating teammate who ended up winning gold, and the Canadian ski-coach who gave a ski to a Russian skier who was hobbling along with a broken ski.

The Dutch have been absolutely killing in speed-skating, it's astonishing. Netherlands finished top-four in the women's 1500 m. event....

I've enjoyed watching some of it. I like most of the sports.
I don't go in for the hype, propaganda, jingoism and nationalism though.
I'm very glad of the DVR so I can skip the BS.

Love the curling. It's a great tactical sport, but you only get to see it on TV once every 4 years - shame.

I agree that it's a shame that most of these sports are hardly every broadcast other than during the Winter Olympics. I haven't watched everything but my wife and I really like seeing all the different stuff these amazing athletes are doing.
