Slowing selling off a bunch of ARCs I have laying around.

I have Abarat books II and III in ARCs and I'll throw in a first HC of Book I. Anybody interested? Plus I might have a really neat foldout poster of Abarat. $40 obo.

Posted this in the Subterranean Press thread, but one does not appear to be much of a going concern.

It was a cool story, just not as freaky as Clive has written before.

I don't care for that cover either, but I think it is time for me to get back into reading his books. I thoroughly enjoyed "The Great & Secret Show", "Weaveworld" and a couple others. He's a great author of horror. I should show him the respect he deserves.

I'm 99.99% sure Chilliad isn't new material. I read a few reviews which were disappointed the stories weren't new.

Merlin, Books of Blood are classic. I've read a couple of graphic novel adaptations (loved them), first two BoB books, The Hellbound Heart and Cabal and they were all 5 star books.

Chiliad was part of Cemetery Dance's anthology Revelations from 1997 which features Barker's artwork for the cover and endpapers

Found Abarat & Abart Days of Magic Nights of War ARC's at my local bookshop for $60 (both). I'm not Barker collector, but thought it may interest someone here.

If you want them, PM me and we will make it happen.

Where did you get it from? SP? Directly from Clive's publisher?

Here's the order page http://www.realclivebarker.com/firsttales/ Not sure what is still available. There are a couple of b&w illustrations in the book.

It's printed by Clive through his publication SeraphimInk, it's their first project.
Topspin filled the order and shipments.

Are the stories themselves worth it because I thought Chilead was awful and don't want to waste my money.

What was the issue price for SP Books of Blood? I'm thinking of possibly getting it from Camelot. Or maybe waiting until the dust settles and unclaimed copies are found in the warehouse.

SubPress has increased the limitation of the signed/numbered edition of TORTURED SOULS to 500, and are showing copies as available.

Barker gets more money, publisher gets more money and your book still looks exactly the same. It seems your only problem here is that more people will own the book. Which in a way I understand but also don't because I collect for myself, not to compete with others.

I don't think its a matter of competing. It does de-value the edition somewhat though, no? Especially if the prices remains firm.

yes and no - even if i never analysed that feeling.

Its more, that i like the moment when you realize that you got something, that is sold out, and it was difficult to get it , and you had to be fast, and there in the correct time frame.
That feels great - its just an emotional collectors thing, but it does.

When you then get the email 2 days later that they just made 200 more and you can have as much as you want,
you feel betrayed because they took this feeling from you.

sounds strange ? maybe ... but i like collecting books, and i like that little success
