I found this painting of Lauryn Hill on Tumblr, but as that's who I always picture as Odetta, I'm sticking it in here:

Wow, I like that!
"People, especially children, aren't measured by their IQ. What's important about them is whether they're good or bad, and these children are bad." ~ Alan Bernard
"You needn't die happy when your day comes, but you must die satisfied, for you have lived your life from beginning to end and ka is always served." ~ Roland Deschain
Here's a pic of the Ka-Tet I picked up somewhere a few years back... no memory of where I found it or the artist's name... but it's rather impressive.
Hmmm... sure I've got a larger uncropped version somewhere...
I've seen that on Deviant Art, I think. It's pretty good.

I did this kinda recently:

Ahhh...some of my art pieces. Both done 4-6 years ago. Need to get back into the groove. The pencil is my own rendering of one of Jae Lee's sketches for The Gunslinger Born. Looks kinda fuzzy and grainy. Blame that on the camera and the scanner. The other is an 16x20 oil on canvas titled "the man in black fled across the desert and teh gunslinger followed" (hmmm...trying to figure how to upload these images....HELP!)
darn...seems that i'm not able to post pics.
You should be able to. You can't until you have five posts, but you should be able to now.
To post pictures, type [ img ] and [ /img ] (without spaces) around the image address.
HaHA!!! Finally! Ok...here is an original of mine that I photoshoped so you can see the progression. I copied this during my sparetime off one of Jae Lee's sketches. I thought inverting the color made it look cooler.
This one is he 16X20 oil on canvas. Small to see the lil black guy trudging across the desert.
And this one is the sketch (a copy of a Jae Lee original). Cheap camera and worse scanner took away some of the detail. Darn it.

Good stuff! Thanks for sharing.
Here's what Oy looks like to me...
A lovable furball when he feels safe, not the ugly things that I've seen in the comics.
He's got a comical yet deadly (protective) rhythm to him and making him look just like a typical dog, doesn't do it for me. He has so much more character to him.
AND...
An absolute menacing terror that you don't want to mess with when he is pissed-off.

Hi folks ... I wrote that ... more or less for fun to test "how long can i write poetry on the fly" ?
here you go: (it is not SOLELY related to the dark tower, yet also to some extent to my life ... doesnt matter, I guess )
child roland to the dark tower came
it was the world that was to blame
a rotten one
forgotten one
one of countless many worlds
inside a sheet of grass that twirls
in it's own downfall
for the rose's death
in a narrow parking lot, full of broken glass
where there was once a wide field of blooming grass
endless fields of green
when the old people and their shiny queen
had their hands on the steering wheel . . .
yet there was that man that came and put roland to the test
the cries of his mother, man in black scarred his chest
not yet a man, just a widow's boy
never saw the light of joy
never saw Susan again
the girl in the window
the girl in flames
so after the day, curt struck him down
he joined all that river, blu ... so blu
and he went down, down to his cave for to drown
in the long lost tides, of a long lost truth
in the shallow waters, where he forgot the face of his father
where he lost all his light, but a ghost his soul,
but an ugly spider his mother
will he ever recover?
then there was that boy. innocent and true
roland shall kill him, out of the blue
at request of the man in black
put on the test, for the tower to catch
for the roses to keep
all of them roses
lost too deep
in the shallow waters
of time
in these shallow realities
broken
intertwined
the day he awoke, off this endless dark
still alone, yet along with a spark
a spark of hope
and two silvery guns
along the endless beach he runs
still alone, yet he shone like a star
like a crack to the world there once was
long ago, had to run so far, travel so far
eating their flesh,
creatures of death
dod a chock?
did a chee?
don't you worry
old man
we got the key!
yet it was insanity
that knocked him down
onto his knees
made friends that left
their lives
for HIS quest
his so uncertain task
to conquer the tower
the ancient tower that
connects or worlds all together
why it was his burden at first
he never asked, he never cared
why his love
had to die in flames
he did not remember when to the dark tower he came
he did not remember all of their names
yet it was him
who stood till the end
...
for you, Mr. King ...

The Dark Tower inspired a big piece of my art since it ........ "inspired" a big piece of my thoughts I read "The Gunslinger" at 10 or 11... it was GREAT then ... LOL
thank you man ...
I like the poem, thanks for posting it!
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
thank you, stroppygoblin
