How about we round it out with Back to the Future 2?
Sphere, how could I have forgotten that one, thanks again Feevie
Excellent, now we hopefully have our list, let's get things going!
Only the gentle are ever really strong.
Cocoon is such an underappreciated gem. Take out Transformers for BTTF2 and we're done!
Oh not yet. Still the issue of Hugo and Tetsuo.
Right, someone second Hugo and nominate Back to the Future part 2 to replace Tetsuo and that should only leave Transformers to deal with.
Tetsuo really is an excellent Sci-fi horror film commonly called Cyberpunk, though on the artistic side, it is in my opinion a brilliant Sci-fi film and I know I offered the spot to anyone who wanted to vote but didn't get to but so far no one has been seconded (and also this was before the tournament was expanded to 160 slots) so if no one gets seconded by the end of the day, I say let it stay because I do hope it's inclusion in the tournament will get more people to see it, Hugo is not listed as being Sci-Fi on wikipedia, IMDB or Rottentomatoes and while it is Steampunk, Steampunk is not necessarily Sci-Fi FIRST, I mean would you consider Sherlock Holmes (2009) as being Sci-Fi FIRST? It is most definitely Steampunk
Sure, Tetsuo can definitely stay if nobody wants to replace it, but Hugo can't. It's just not sci-fi even tangentially. I'd prefer it see The City of Lost Children or Delicatessen if we want a steampunk film.

How 'bout some Verne in place of Hugo, either The Journey to the Centre of the Earth or 20,000 Leagues? Whichever fits the s.f. definition more. Not necessarily stunning movies by today's standards but still classic.
So how about 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Back to the Future 2 instead of Hugo and Transformers?
Hindsight yadda yadda... Watchmen and V for Vendetta would've made for solid entries.
The list of would-be nominees can get quite long, unfortunately there has to be a cutoff. If we can replace Hugo with BTTF2 and keep Transformers, that would be great. We cannot seriously have a Top 160 list with BTTF1 and 3 yet no 2...
It's up to KDog what he wants to replace it with. Let me get him in here.
Well, it looks like Transformers just got seconded and I am all for Tetsuo staying, but can someone please second Hugo so that it can be included as it is an absolutely brilliant steampunk film, maybe not entirely Sci-fi but enough to allow entry.
It is so much better than Transformers after all, which has been allowed.
I'll second Hugo
"We make up horrors to help us cope with the real ones."
Excellent! Well there we have it!
Spoiler:
Let me get started on sorting the groups. Shit, might even get something up as early as this afternoon.
