Forbidden Planet did an outstanding job packing.
Box inside a box, cardboard sleeve, protective wrap and shrink wrapped even a piece of cardboard
behind where you slice the tape to protect. Nicely done!
But, with all the expense in packing, couldn't they have done a simple slipcase?

I agree on the great packing. If they had decided to do a slipcase, it could very possibly caused a fairly substantial delay.

I'm not REAL impressed with most of the illustrations (I count nine of them). They just don't match what I envisioned.

Got the notice that the Postman tried to deliver today (Sat.), but we weren't home, so it's sitting at the Post Office depot to pick up Mon. a.m. For overseas shipping, that was blazing fast...the tracking details showed it up was picked up from FP on 6/19, and I get the delivery notice on 6/22...apparently it went Global Priority. I bi##hed about the high shipping cost earlier in this thread, but if it can get from the UK to my home in Washington State in four days, I think I got my money's worth!

Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until Monday to get my hands on it. :-(

I was tracking mine and noticed that it had arrived at my local Post Office. I called them and told them to put it aside and I'd pick it up. That's what I did.

I'm also amazed how fast it arrived.

I inquired about this awhile back. But now that the book is out I thought I would throw it out there again. Has anyone seen anything about a large print edition? I was working for Borders when The Colorado Kid came out, the Large Print edition came up in the system but was restricted to institutional orders! Just wondering if there is anything for Joyland, I wouldn't mind an English language hardcover with the paperback art.

All I have heard about the 1st printing is that is it was over 1 million? I assume you mean the paperback version.
