What Mae said. Stop the childish shit guys, come on.
I've been thinking of making such a thread, if there isn't one yet: the best endings. I would like to talk about it. Not as a poll, but as a discussion thread. Many films spring to mind immediately.
As far, however, as Melancholia is concerned, I am ashamed to say that the ending didn't really impress me, probably because it was one of the outcomes I had expected

bears are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The remaining Round 1 polls have been posted ahead of schedule due to this. I'll be back in a week for Round 2.
Thanks mae. Take your time. Myself and other staff will do our best to handle anything that comes up.
Mae, I'm sorry about your mom. I know how difficult things have been for you over the past few years. The tournament can wait. We are in no rush.

Neither of the posts had anything to do with expressing condolences. You are an ass for trying to tell others how/when they should express their condolences.
Double neg rep sent to you, and a public chastising as well as a warning. I've privately warned you, but apparently you are clueless. Shut the fuck up now regarding the conflict between you and T-Dogz_AK47 and anyone else.
Automatic 24 hour ban.
I'm so very sorry, mae!
All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
My deepest sympathy and condolences Mae.
Thank you, and thanks to everyone who PMed and messaged me with your kind and warm thoughts, it was very comforting. My mom was initially diagnosed just as this tournament started in late January 2019, that first 1990s part, and here we are about a year and a half later, and she's gone. It's been an incredibly difficult time for me and my family, but this tournament and our site in general has always been instrumental in me being able to get through the day. Thank you all once again, and I hope we can finish this tournament together.
The last of the tiebreakers closed today and Round 2 will start this Monday, the 17th. Thanks to everyone for such great voting and discourse!
And here are the standings after the first round:
Moving on:
Eliminated:
Some really great films dropped off right away, sadly. I would think that's due to some people not having seen them, so I do implore y'all to check some of these eliminated gems out!
Wow, of the 128 films eliminated, I only saw 1, Instant Family, I actually voted for it (and may have seconded it, not sure), it was a rare movie out of my general preferences, and yet it still got eliminated (badly too). That will teach me to expand my horizons LOL!

Hi everyone, Happy Friday! The last polls of Round 2 just went up, we're moving on right along! I hope everyone is having fun and I would like to thank everyone for voting, as always! Thanks for taking the time to vote and discuss, it's a blast and choices get only more difficult going forward!

It is my unofficial observation that the last 2 or three movies listed in many polls have the lowest votes. Are members voting simply for the movies listed early?
Mae can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the way she posts the polls are that the movies with the highest score so far are listed first, and then kind of ranked down in score, so that the ones listed at the bottom have a lower ranking at the moment. So it's not surprising that they're usually the ones with the lowest votes. I'm sure it's done out of convince, or maybe there's another reason, but I wouldn't be opposed to Mae mixing up the titles in each group when the polls are posted. I'm sure the votes will end up the same though.
Only the gentle are ever really strong.
Yes, exactly, Heather. Maybe this little sneak peek will help illustrate. This is from our completed 1980s tournament:
EXCLUSIVE: Forbidden and uncensored behind the scenes leaked footage!
So what happens is this: for Round 1 the groups are all randomized. Whatever percentages the movies get in Round 1, I use that to sort them from highest percentage to lowest (and then alphabetically). So in the screenshot you can see how that looks going all the way to the end. After each round I enter the percentage for the movie for that round, sort them, and then plug in the next round going from top to bottom, across each group.
That means that the movie at #1 goes in Group 1, spot 1. The movie at #2 goes to Group 2, spot 1. And so on. Meaning that the movie which is in last place will go to the last spot in the last Group.
I hope this makes sense? Randomizing movies within a group is something I've thought about but it's a needless extra step, I feel. I find it actually interesting when higher-ranked movies get eliminated for lower-ranked ones. It doesn't happen super often but does happen.
Yes, I do also love seeing one of those bottom ones pull ahead and make it on to the next round.
Only the gentle are ever really strong.
I've thought about this at length too and have always wondered if certain films being at the top/bottom don't facilitate a prejudice of which film should receive a vote or not.
I don't think it's a necessary change to make but I'd certainly be curious to see what the end results would be. Ultimately though the cream will rise to the top and the elite films will advance, regardless of positioning on the board.
Hi friends! So Round 2 concluded today, even though we have three tiebreakers still going into Monday and Tuesday, when Round 3 will be starting (on Monday the 7th). Usually these tiebreakers don't interfere as long as the undecided spots land down the line in Groups, not in the first four or eight, so we should be good to start on time!
I don't know where else to put this, but I found the Burning DVD at Dollar Tree! I was so excited to find a film like that for a buck. Anyway, carry on.

Alright! The last of the Round 3 polls just went up, go get em! Round 4 will begin in 10 days, hopefully barring any last-minute tiebreakers.
Thanks once again to everyone for your continued excellent participation! This is more fun with more people! #grouphug
