There is always an exemption that proves the rule.
A factory made meal will contain far more fats, sugars and salts than a home cooked meal will contain. Not only in quantity but in type. They will add fat, sugar and salt to items that wouldn't normally contain them. They are dealing in addiction and know that we like fat, sugar and salt.
When I cook I use olive oil or peanut oil primarily. Olive oil for most everything and peanut oil for higher temp cooking. When a factory cooks they primarily use genetically engineered vegetable - corn, canola, cottonseed - oils.
I use sugar, brown sugar, honey, maple syrup, etc. as a sweetener when called for. Factories use High Fructose Corn Syrup, etc..
I use kosher salt or sea salt to taste. Factories use multiple salts to saturation.
