Last night was the second edition of an award created by a group of 12-13 french authors, called "la ligue de l'imaginaire" (the league of the imaginary?)
Got the opportunity to get some books signed.
It was a shame that the card-machine of the bookseller didnt work properly as I wanted to buy more books to get more signatures, from more authors... but oh well.

At the very end of the event, one of the author (that I know quite well), told me to follow him because (most of the authors) were going to his place to conclure the evening

So, unexpectedly, I ended up there, discussing with some of them. Quite a good evening.

John,
I had a pretty difficult shoulder surgery a few years back.... here's my advice.

#1. You "must" sleep up-right in a soft recliner for at least 2 weeks, more like 3.
#2. If the doctor offers a peripheral nerve block catheter and infusion pump to help reduce pain... spend the money!!
#3. "Never" miss your pain meds for the 1st 10 days, you will need somebody to help you through the nights (Approx. 4 hour intervals)
#4. Rehab is an absolute must, also... follow the home exercises religiously.

On an unrelated note, I was just driving down a street, when a car pulled out of a parking lot without stopping to check for traffic, and while I would not say I had to "slam" on my brakes, I did have to suddenly apply my brakes to avoid hitting her. I honked my horn, and when I caught up to the driver about 15 seconds later at a stoplight, I pointed at my own eyes and shouted at her to open her eyes!

At which point, the woman in the car IN FRONT of the driver looked at me and said, "you gotta be kidding me!", and I told her I was not talking to her, and that I was talking to the woman BEHIND her. She then said "yeah, well that is my niece....maybe YOU should not be speeding around here!"........so I informed her that I was only going 35mph, and that her niece should learn to drive.

She then barked that I should learn to be a gentleman.

WTF?!

People are nuts, especially when driving. I really love it when you're on the highway and someone changes to your lane (without signaling), right in front of you, and when you beep the horn, they look at you like YOU'RE the idiot.

Thanks, John. Yeah, I knew she was up to her eyes in work, but I thought it was winding down like a month ago. Glad that she is fine.
