okay, so a package arrived for me from America and I'm looking at the shipping manifest and seeing what it contains and it contained The Lovecraft Library: Horror Out of Arkham, Neonomicom #1 wraparound coversigned by Jacen Burroughs, Jack The Lantern 10th anniversary #1, Cemetery Dance Presents Grave Tales #7 and a box of cereal and I'm thinking cereal... what the hell so i opened it up and it's an unopened box of Count Chocula cereal

Ok, so true story. in the late 80's (around 86 I think) myself and 2 friends decided to build complete Ghostbuster outfits, Neutrino Wands, Proton Packs, uniforms, the lot. We were all serious model makers and the father of one of my friends had his own high end model railway business, so we had access to injection moulding equipment and other great tools. We spent days watching Ghostbusters on Video, watching specific scenes over and over and over again. Specifically the scene where Venkman is running down the corridor of the hotel (best overall shot of the proton pack). I have probably watched the first movie nearly 200 times!

We had plans to get hired for parties etc, and designed the NW's to be able to load small canisters of 'silly string' which would fire out the end. It never fully came to pass but we did create a prototype NW and a full uniform. The Proton Pack turned out to be the stumbling block and became financially unviable with cost of parts, moulding plastics, and specifically the electronics. I did however get to use the outfit for a fancy dress party where it was given the 'best costume' award!

These days you can get full schematics for all the GB equipment and there are some amazing fan builds out there, but all we had was that video and a pause button. Funnily enough I met up with the 2 friends recently (we attended a Hitch Hikers Guide Live radio show with the original cast members - dressed in dressing gowns and towels of course!) We had a good laugh about the early days!

My minions have minds of their own. Quite frankly, for whatever reason. I cannot recall the amount of enthusiasm for this project ever reaching these heights. I for one think that is a good thing. Knowing you as I have come to in the past, I would think that you would agree. As always I respect every member and If I am doing anything "over the top" I will take it down a notch out of respect. Lord knows, I can get carried away on this subject, but this year it seems as if I'm not the primary force, which is kinda nice to be honest and greatly appreciated.

If I upset you with my actions then you have my sincere apologies.

Easy buddy, I wasn't directing at you specifically, no need to get all gushy.
All I'm saying is that fundraiser posts are virtually everywhere.
Every thread doesn't need somebody popping in to say "Hey that's a great new Pride & Joy you got there.... But did you give money yet?"
"To me" it sorta feels like that phone call I get right about dinner time from Special Olympics or somebody soliciting something.
Just voicing my opinion, sort of food for thought kinda thing.
.....and yes, I do donate to the Haven Fund every year.

You are correct. I have (about 10 minutes ago) asked the Minions to reduce superfluous posts. I agree with your sentiments, and apologize.

Expect to NOT see post bumps that are unnecessary.

Respectfully, I was not "gushy". I was just trying to relay my thoughts and motivations. Again, I apologize for my and my minions actions. I don't need to be told to go "easy" I certainly did not respond in an agitated fashion. And I do not do so now. Live long and prosper, you're a great guy and member.

Please accept my blanket apologies to all members who are not interested in the Haven Fund. You all know that this is a very generous community, but I apologize for my and my "Minions" actions and thoughts. This year, for some reason has really generated a "buzz". I suppose we thought the feeling was "universal", but I see that it is not. We certainly did not mean to offend anyone and I have instructed my folks to tread lightly here on in. Feel free to conduct your commerce and interests and "We" will tread lightly from hereon out.

In the past, I suppose it was enough to deal with one "crackpot", but now it is many. I did not actively look to do that, but I can see how the "Haven Fund Whore" times X could be annoying. Still, the HF is a staple of this site and a great charity. If our antics have upset you, we apologize.
