Until there is some legal clarification, or court order, I'd hold off letting anyone have the books for fear of accidentally giving them to the wrong person. Also, given current shelter in place rules and distancing rules, you may not wish to be exposed to whomever they send to pick up the books.

I know it may seem cold to contact you so quickly, but I think different people handle grief differently, and perhaps they just want to get what they can get done as they think of it. For example ast week while visiting my father, who still hasn't passed yet, we started going through his armoire and throwing things out. My Dad woke up and asked what we were looking for. I just said we were cleaning up. Later he asked if we found what we were looking for, and I just said "yes".

I would definitely take into account that these folks were not storing the books in the first place. Seems to me that there may very well be a reason other than space especially since they are so eager to have them now after his passing. Of course, legalities will ultimately determine their fate.

I love a few things in my life... film/tv, King/Whelan, boating, four wheeling, travel, friends/family and my puppy. Indiana Jones (Indy for short) is my best little buddy and I have had him for 1.5 years. Some on your see him on social media. I do every thing with him. Short story version.... I need some prayers. Something is wrong and he has been to hospital 3 times and is there now. They have done EVERY test. And they cannot figure it out. I need my buddy back. He is not himself and getting worse by the hour. It’s truly heart braking. I know it’s only a dog.... but he isn’t to me. He is my boy. He is my best pal. Here is the last picture I took before we rushed him back again.

Yeah that was first, teeth, stuff stuck in his mouth, dislocation of jaw, blood anomalies, and everything else. They had him on an IV today and we are going to get him now. They think maybe it could be an infection but if not that.. that just don’t know.

David, I agree wholeheartedly that you should not release them to anybody until you hear from a lawyer. Hopefully it will be straightforward in one way or another and not messy, if ill-timed in several ways. My condolences for your loss.
Kris, I hope they are able to give you some answers, or, better, that they are able to fix the problem, even if they can't find the exact cause. I remember when you posted the first pics, he was in a little turquoise bowtie I think...
UPDATE: the bloodwork came back that could be infection. Think he was bit maybe?? Anyways, they have him on antibiotics and we see a small change (we think and for the better too!) He is sleeping now and fingers crossed tomorrow we see more. Thanks to all you guys for the love and well wishes.... I know it helped him

I lost two cats recently & very unexpected.
Both were my pals, the first one (stewey) died of acute kidney failure (found out way too late).
The second one (levi) died about a year later due to poisoning, the veterinarian said he had a lot of these cases at that time.
At this time we have one cat Misha, a Maine Coon, although he sometimes acts as if he's a dog ; he plays fetch. 😁
He mostly stays indoors & our garden, he doesn't dare to go any further.

I was in fact pondering your situation last night and thought who is the lawyer dealing with his estate?
That would be the only person I would hand them to... if he has it in his will then the executor of the estate has the power to deal with it.
