True, it probably won't be the same as in Legends, I'm sure there will be major modifications. But back to my original point, just because it's now non-canon doesn't mean they're not stories worth checking out.
Thrawn's legacy has already been cemented, regardless of what Disney came in to retcon with a wave of their hand.

No, everything that's happened pre-Disney (April 2014, I believe), is still non-cannon ("Legends"). Except the movies and TV shows. They will pull stories and characters from Legends books and comics and even video games, but all their backstories from before remain non-canon until we see them told in canon, be that in TV series, movies, or new novels or comics. So Thrawn was a major character, as feev pointed out, and had a celebrated trilogy of books. But his appearance in Rebels is his first canon appearance. Everything that's canon about Thrawn right now is in his Rebels storylines.
I'm not saying Legends stuff should be disregarded, not at all. Everyone is free to enjoy that great stuff. Like The Knights of the Old Repubic which totally should be a trilogy of movies or a D+ show. I'm just trying to illustrate what is and isn't considered "canon".
Not to be difficult, but isn't that what I just said or did I phrase it incorrectly? Any of these characters and whatever portions of their back stories that become part of "The Mandalorian" or any of the new SW shows immediately become "Canon". Go easy on me I'm already confused!!! LOL

Sorry, I was replying to your initial post where you said that as soon as a character from Legends appears in canon, everything about them becomes canon, which it doesn't. I'm probably making this more complicated than it is, I'm not super great at explaining things!
Anyway, stuff from Legends has to be explicitly shown in canon to become canon I guess is the easiest way.
Yes, Thrawn originated with the Thrawn trilogy, but the events of the Thrawn trilogy are not canon. So the Thrawn that shows up in the Mandalorian is not the same Thrawn as the character in the Thrawn trilogy. The events of the book series are not relevant.
However, because the rebels animated series is Canon, the events surrounding Thrawn in that series are relevant, because it’s part of the connected canon universe.
Similarly, there are two new Thrawn trilogies written by Timothy Zahn, which are post acquisition and therefore canon. So, presumably they include past events that may be referenced in The Mandalorian, and there may be some benefit to reading them, to get familiar with who canon-Thrawn is.
That’s why I say it is important to distinguish canon from non-canon, especially as non-canon characters are being re-introduced in canon. You can’t assume that the non-canon events happened, or are part of these characters histories anymore.

Correct on both counts.
You guys have my head spinning at this point and I'm completely lost as to what Legends even is lol. Much less the billions of SW books, comics, etc. All I know is that Clone Wars is awesome! I binged about 5 hours last night and completely forgot it was animated. I'm sure I'll be let down by the other animated series since they seem to be described as more kidish. There's nothing kidish at all IMO about CW.

No, Rebels is on par with Clone Wars. They both start out kiddish but get serious and even dark at times. Resistance is more kiddish for sure, and it's not as essential, I guess, even though it does flesh out more about the sequel era.
As long as the annoying soundtrack that always seems to play in the background of most animated series is absent, I'm golden.

And if you think it's already better than the prequels, just wait until Seasons 7 and 8, when you actually catch up with Revenge of the Sith (CW takes place between Episodes 2 and 3). Epic, just epic.
Yes, ma'am, I'm being a good little Padawan and following the guide to the tee. I believe I'm up to #13. I'd started watching it before and got a few episodes in, but decided to start over from the beginning. I love how Ahsoka is just as headstrong as her master. I thought there were only 7 seasons?? Either way, I'll watch all the animated stuff now.

Yes, apologies! I mean Seasons 6 and 7! The Bad Batch, which is an upcoming series, seems to be like Season 8, I had that on my mind probably.
Gotcha. I've go so much watching to do that I'll doubt I'll have to wait for any of it. Just flow one series into the next. Waiting for Mando week to week is killer. Not to mention in between seasons.

Read the Darth Vader comics published by Marvel, you can find it on Amazon. They do an amazing job of fleshing out parts of the universe and give some great insight into Vader's mindset and his relationship with his underlings and Palpatine.
If you really dig em, you might consider getting a Comixology account (think Kindle Unlimited but for comics). I read a bunch of SW stuff on there for relatively low monthly cost.
I don't think Comixology lets you read everything. Some things you need to buy. Instead, if you really want to explore the comics, I think all SW comics should be on Marvel Unlimited. The only issue is that some SW comics are being published by IDW, and those are on Comixology, but they're more for a younger audience anyway.
