Am I the only one who doesn't like this signature? It looks tiny and cramped. I wouldn't bid on it.

Unfortunately, this signature is pretty typical of the later signatures. I don't like it much either, but it's pretty standard anymore.

I started seeing this smaller signature on a couple of my books too. It is a legit signature and wouldn't your hand cramp too after 200 signed books? It was much tighter when On Writing came out. In its own right, since it is typical of his more recent signatures it is almost a providence of sorts. I actually prefer this signature over the one in my Dr. Sleep 1st where he signed in Toronto. I would bid on it.

As far as the US Global shipping program it really is sad. I have cut down my buying by 75% since ebay/USPS switched last year. Now I ship through a couple of friends in the states.

From what I can see (without having the book in hand), I wish I would have waited. I spent twice that much for mine.

It is hard to tell for sure from that one picture. I could live with that tiny bump. It's the white chips that concern me.

I waited a little and got mine for $140. I think that is still a fair price. There have only been a couple to sell for less.

That FD,NS looks like a typical allstarbooks2010 job. That seller has sold a shit ton of forgeries and it seems like they're finding their way back on the market via his past customers.

I forgot to mention that this edition will feature around 20 pieces of stunning artwork created by Alan Lee, who is the acclaimed artist involved with creating all of the conceptual art for both The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movie trilogies. They have the kindle version on amazon uk - but since I'm in US I can't order that version - seems pretty silly - that I have to wait for the book to be published in the US to get the kindle version. But the uk HC was printed in Sept 2013 - it's available at book depository on sale and free shipping to US - so I bought a copy to read first - before I drop $360 - see if I like the stories.
