During the first round of The Best Movie Scene Tournament, please vote for up to six movie scenes you would like to move onto the next round. The top six movie scenes will be moving on. Keep in mind that the percentage of the vote a given movie scene receives will determine its standing going forward.

IMPORTANT! Please do not simply vote on name recognition (or lack thereof) alone. Please do watch each nomination and then make your choice. Even if you think you know a movie scene well, it's still worth watching for a refresher.

Please remember that his tournament is for Best Scene, not Best Movie.
It's important to therefore judge each nomination on its individual merits and NOT by the entire movie.

But that scene is one of the best scenes of the movie. It's so layered, and a very pivotal moment in the film. It pretty much sums up the whole film right there.

I think that's the case with most of the older films in the competition. And I can see without the background of the film the importance or full effect of the scene might not be felt.

No. Even the most beautiful pearl has flaws. There are many more flaws in it besides that one but it doesn't make it less beautiful to me. If I have one major complaint about it, it's that it is a bit shallow. What you see (which is gorgeousness throughout) is what you get. There's not much that's up for artistic interpretation as far as the story or characters go. It's pretty cut and dry. Even this doesn't bother me given what Welles managed to get on the screen for his debut film.
