have fun guys - also a to heavy trip for me from austria !
My goal was to do one night (or two) in each city.
I'm flying in to Bangor. For myself, it seems like a lot of work to spend 12 hours to get from home to Bangor, only to drive 2.5+ hours to Portland (20+ miles from event in Brigton).
I'll stay in Bangor Saturday, do the tour, have an enjoyable dinner, then retire early to drive straight to Brighton early Sunday morning. I'm hoping traffic at 6am on a Sunday morning will be light.
The event will likely be over in <90 minutes. All 500 attendees get a signed book and ~8 seconds each in front of Mr. King.
Post event, lunch in either Brighton or Portland seems likely.
Members are coming from all over, but I'm not certain everyone wants to get together as a large party for lunch after the event.
Some may prefer smaller parties-and at different venues.
If anyone is looking for a place to stay, a friend of a friend runs a resort about 15 minutes from Bridgton.

I am thinking about flying into and out of Boston (7/11-7/14) and renting a car to drive to Portland. On Monday we were thinking about driving to Bangor and hooking up with Stu for one of the tours, probably staying the night in Bangor. Then driving back to Boston on Tuesday to fly home.
Haven't booked anything yet. Waiting to hear from a couple of folks, including Stu.
I only decided to go to this thing a couple of hours ago but am getting pretty excited. My wife is excited too.
Anybody want to know the fastest way to get to Logan Airport?

I got my tickets this afternoon. Surprised they were still available. Looks like a very small store. Hopefully that doesn't mean they get overwhelmed. Is the signing at the bookstore? I wasn't sure what the "Magic Lantern" is that they mention.
I believe "Magic Lantern" is a nearby cinema.
If I am mistaken, then hopefully it will be clarified shortly.

I suppose there is no hope of getting an older book signed at this event? They were practically frisking people on the Revival tour. I don't understand why they care which book he signs so long as you buy a ticket.
That's cool that Portland/Bangor flights worked out for so many - I would have expected more difficulty with connecting flights, etc.
Yeah, I wish at one of these signings they would let people bring a book - or at least personalize.
But of course we know the answer - 500 signatures turns into 1000 - and they don't want to deal with grabbing YOUR book when they have the system to a science of the stack of all the same books.
I will drive up early Sunday. Once I see the logistics, etc. I wasn't going to go, but now it will neat to hopefully meet a lot of members.
I called Bridgton book's this purchased two ticket's, this will be a first for me and my wife should be fun. We are flying into Portland,Me Saturday about 2pm depart late tuesday afternoon. Hope to meet up with everyone here. Kevin
If people are staying in Portland, here is a fun museum to visit if it's rather random hours work out for you:

It's totally absurd, of course...the owner will be there, and he's either crazy or crazy like a fox...but it's small and easy to blaze through.
I'm thoroughly jealous of you all. Have fun guys and gals, take lots of photos.
just throwing this out into the universe:
if anybody is expecting to have an extra copy to sell from the signing, I'd be willing to offer $300, which I will pay in advance.
guaranteed sale and you would have the money now which you can use to subsidize your trip - just sayin...
