Wayward Pines is written by Blake Crouch. Pines, Wayward, The Last Town in that order. And relatively short for books. Sounds perfect because they would be direct and to the point and not filled with filler like most books.

Agreed. It pretty much read like one book. His books are definitely on the shorter side compared to other authors I read, so they're very fast paced which I like.
New show out folks called Mr. Robot. VERY well done... Intelligent and very interesting!

Orange is the New Black is back! I'm so excited. Getting my binge on!
Hmm... I watched a good 6, 7 episodes of OITNB and I couldn't get into it enough to keep going. Not a bad show by any means, just not my cup o' tea I guess.
What? You must be kidding. One of my favorites! Very funny, fun, and at times quite touching. I love it.
The first season is really really good. Different type of show which is nice to see. But, the second season was not as good. I heard this from dozens of women that watch the show and they all say the same thing. Not much difference in the seasons as it's quite repetitive. The third season I just started and I have already seen all this previously in the other seasons. It's the same thing almost every show. As the show progresses, it becomes repetitive and boring. The show is dying for me. I feel, "It's over Johnny. It's over."
On a Game of Thrones note, everything that has been happening this season can be seen coming a mile away. Not like previous shockers from the season's past. Many people could care less about Dorne, as the plot is viewed as a waste of time, and I tend to agree at this point. Rumor has it that the finale will be played in Canada in theaters or one theater? Perhaps we will be able to see it before Sunday?

That's how I felt about House of Cards. I wasn't too engaged by it starting from the pilot, but ended up watching all of the first season hoping it would get better. I haven't had any desire to watch beyond. TV shouldn't be a chore, but I definitely felt that way about HOC.
A NEW GAME BEGINS
I made no effort to see this show. No desire.
Now Penny Dreadful has been very entertaining for me. Especially when they said it would be more then 8 episodes this season. And yes, I believe in the demimonde. I will say the background story, or main story if you will, reminds me a lot of "Paradise Lost."

Ha! I literally just started a Penny Dreadful thread, so get in there! So far you're the only other person on the site I know that watches it.
Also, is anyone watching The Whispers on ABC? I was looking forward to it, but man has it been boring. It's only been two episodes so far. And I usually never feel that way about a show this early.
A NEW GAME BEGINS
I've been screaming for people to watch Penny Dreadful as it is horror, clever, well written, a bit disturbing, and very good acting. Sometimes Eva Green looks awful or homeless, and sometimes she is just enough attractive that I enjoy her immensely lol. She is impressive on the show for sure. The whole "demon story" is unraveling and reminds me of what I mentioned earlier. I was hoping the main villain was actuallybut so far I don't believe that to be true. What I don't like is how easily vampires are....dispatched. Other then that, I really really really like the show. Unless if collapses onto itself, but so far this season has been damn good. I'd love another seance. That was my favorite scene so far.spoiler
As for Whispers. I was excited to see it as summer shows, there aren't much out there. Wow, is it boring or what. I'm not holding my breath for it to get better after 3 episodes. I read mixed reviews on it and at this rate, it'll be one and done.

Yeah, I think I may give up on The Whispers if the next episode doesn't really grab me. There's just too much stuff going on with all the subplots, etc.
A NEW GAME BEGINS
Personally, I am very gun shy when it comes to new TV series. You get vested in them and then they cancel. Drives me nuts!! Lately, I have taken a "Wait & See" approach, utilizing "Tivo" and waiting for a season or two before vesting in a series. Woeful times we are living in, huh? I did take a chance on "Wayward Pines" and so far I am hooked. Expect a cancellation notice shortly!!! LOL

Bill, you don't have to worry about Wayward Pines. It's a 10-episode "Event" series, so after the 10 episodes, it's done!
Also, I think you'd love Penny Dreadful.

I can't believe people are hating on Orange/Black. It's an amazing, award-winning show. The characters are all great, acting is sublime. Very funny and very human. Don't know what else you could ask for.
A most entertaining show.
All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
Went through Season 3 in about two days. Wow. Great stuff. Plenty of funny moments and some pretty emotional moments, especially during the season finale.
