Haunting of Bly Manor
From the created of Haunting of Hill House which was great by the way. Anyway, the acting was really good; that's it. The story was very dull and boring. Nothing truly happened of any real significance until episode 5 and there are 9 episodes. This was not a haunting tale or anything remotely close to horror. It wasn't frightening or scary at all. It was a complete let down for me and I couldn't believe how bad it was.

I heard in a lot of reviews that it wasn't scary (which is always subjective) but not that it's bad. I haven't watched it yet, though, so I don't know. I just (finally) started AHS: Hotel. Thanks to COVID, no new season this fall so I figured it was a good time.

Speaking of American Horror Story, what did you guys think of the new season? What? You didn't know the new season dropped? It's disguised under a different name. Check it out on Netflix, it's call Ratched. Actually, don't.

Yeah, Ratched definitely had some AHS/Asylum vibes. I did enjoy the show, though. Sarah Paulson and Cynthia Nixon were great. I fully expected it to lean further into horror territory than it did, though.
I just don't understand how RM doesn't see that his series are style over story. Or maybe he does and that's what he's going for. I'm three episodes into Hotel and already there's 47 different plot lines and serial killers and random murdery ghosts. I have no idea what the focus is supposed to be so far.

Murphy is the very definition of style of substance.

Ratched definitely felt like another season of AHS. Nowhere near as good as Murder House but much better than Apocalypse and Cult.
I finally got around to watching Black Mirror. Good stuff.

Somehow I missed this, looks great!
We laughed hard at STAGED on Hulu. Six short episodes in which David Tennant and Michael Sheen attempt to rehearse a play on Zoom. Lots of fun cameos from their real partners and a couple of other surprise appearances. Something easily binged in an evening. Season 2 was just announced.

Well... re-watching Breaking Bad. It’s better the second time. It really is the best show of all time. ALL seasons are. Now LOST... the first couple were masterful. Maybe the first 3 seasons. BUT BB kept the quality and story telling right to the end. I really wish we had Better Call Saul first. I’m not a fan of prequels and would have preferred it in order.... BUT wow. It’s my all time fav show. Banshee is next (lead is Homelander from the Boys) then LOST... but the early seasons. If you have only watched Breaking Bad once? Do it again.... it’s brilliant. Period.

I did re-watch Breaking Bad and loved every minute of it, but for me it is the second best show; Deadwood is still first. Penny Dreadful's acting alone is quite riveting and up there for me. I'm very curious as to where Expanse is going to go when completed. It has great characters, an amazing curveball storyline, war, politics, space, aliens, and I'm curious how this ends as a fantastic show or not. Lost, with that ending, plummets for me as well as Dexter running too damn long and a horrid ending. Game of Thrones could have been something special, but with no books for a completed storyline and D and D having to rush everything and completely destroy it, their ain't no fixing it now .

Helstrom on Hulu.
From Marvel and I have no idea about a comic or something of that nature. I wasn't sure what to expect from this and even the story telling leaves things out about the Helstrom family which is a disappointing. Sometimes the show felt like it was cheaply done, but I did enjoy the acting and most of the characters. Overall it was pretty good, but not something I would clamor about seeing again.

I think I'm going to give Queen's Gambit a watch. It's got all good things in it... chess, addiction, and Anya Taylor-Joy. And it's only 7b episodes.
