I think the prices will spike when that dark day comes (but we're talking 20+ years away, probably), but even that will be artificial and will likely roll back quickly.

Once you're out of sight, it doesn't take long for the next big thing to overtake you.

I think the price spike we saw a few years back was just like real estate - thanks to Internet knowledge, an active marketplace, etc., people thought because they COULD buy it, meant they SHOULD buy it. And then, just like real estate, there was a glut of overpriced limited of tepid quality (think condos in Las Vegas).

Long story short, the zenith has passed - except for the big ticket items like DT I, Asbestos Firestarter, etc.

It looks okay to me. King's signature has gotten worse recently, but that one looks fine.

It screams 'fake' to me. I don't collect King sigs but I've seen lots of them over the years and my opinion usually happens to coincide with that of the experts here. But I'll probably be wrong one day. Looking forward to hearing more opinions!

More of a collecting observation but since I don't see a thread like that, I'll put this here!

I have (enviously) looked thru all the wonderful collections of the members here and couldn't help but notice several copies of the same book title. Way back when and up until recently, I wondered...WTF?. But now I understand more, i.e., S/L copy, first edition trade copy, gift copy, etc. I understand because I have the Scribner signed first edition of 11/22/63, I have the slipcased gift edition on order. I started to read the book but couldn't bring myself to, out of fear of mucking the book up. I'll feel the same way when the gift edition arrives. Sooooo, it looks like I'm just going to have to buy another copy for reading and that'll bring my total of this one book, to three.

202 - 150 in the Artist Edition and 52 in the Lettered Edition.
