Currently reading Drama: An Actor's Education by John Lithgow. Pretty light reading, but quite charming. Lithgow writes well, with a natural aptitude for storytelling.

No need to kill you. You are punishing yourself enough as is.
There's one hole in every revolution, large or small. And it's one word long.. people. No matter how big the idea they all stand under, people are small and weak and cheap and frightened. It's people that kill every revolution.

I read the first one a couple months ago... it alternates between being hilariously bad and nauseatingly bad. The hilariously bad parts can actually be enjoyable... probably not in the way the author meant, though.

It's getting a little better... I'm having problems with the names. Question: When a book is translated into another language, why don't they change the names? I like the idea of keeping them but it is just so confusing and I'm not sure on pronunciation, which bothers me. I just figure if you are going to change every other word in the book you might as well come up with a similar name that would be easier to keep track of. And what kind of jerk author puts both a Thomas and Tommy in as major characters?!

Yeah! Should've been "proper Tommy" and "other Tommy" instead, a lot less confusing!

EDIT: you know what the real joke is? My dad's name is Tom and my brother's Tommy, so it does happen. Especially with Thomases!

Finished up all the Dresden Files that are out, and am now slowly working my way through The Interpretation Of Murder, by Jed Rubenfeld.

Elodin: "Tombs is for feckless twits who can't chew their own food. My boy's a Re'lar! He has the feck of twenty men!"

Kvothe: “Books are a poor substitute for female companionship, but they are easier to find.”

Simmon: ”It’s just ointment in case you get burned...but if you mix it with piss, it turns into candy.” Sim’s expression was deadpan. “Delicious candy.”

What's REALLY fun is trying to pronounce the Swedish towns and geography.

My stepdad is Tommy and my ex-husband was a Tommy (I saw was because he is now known as Thomas and it just gripes my ass but that's just me) so my little sisters started the habit of calling the ex by his first and last name. Twenty five years later, my extended family still calls him that.

Umm, I'm starting whatever the second Dresden book is, to get this back on track.
