Hi Brian,

Does any of the slipcases sold on CD's site fits the Justin Cronin's S/L The Twelve?. Thanks.

That's definitely a Dan question. I'll ask him when I see him later today, and if there are, I'm sure he can pop in and post a note. Thanks for asking!

Although I agree with what everyone is saying about the case for Carrie. I, honestly, expected this to be the exact case. Color and foil stamping... nothing else. I am not shocked or wow because I know the CD does a crazy good job. I was hoping for something a little different but this is classy and I am happy with it. Carrie is one of the books you can't do to much with anyway. It should be classy.... I am most excited for the Stand or Salems...

Do you think CD might produce a slipcase for The Twelve specifically?.

We did a poll of the collectors who ordered from us over the summer, basically, "Would you be interested in one if one were to be produced?"

Based on the responses, assuming that everyone actually ordered a case who said they did want one, the per unit cost for production worked out to north of $35 if I recall. Given that a lot of the responses were, "if it's not too expensive," we assumed that many of the people wouldn't actually order at that price, which would push the per unit cost even higher, which would probably knock out even more interested collectors, etc.

But we have more projects with slipcases in the works for 2015, so we'll be watching to see if any of them might fit. We can easily add 100 extra cases to a run of a new case and offer them very affordably!

In addition to what Brian said it is important to note that The Passage didn't have a specific slipcase produced for it either. It just so happened that at the time we had a large number of the Dark Tower Concordance slipcases left over, which happened to fit The Passage pretty much perfectly.

I only have The Twelve, so can't compare, but are The Passage and The Twelve the same size? Would they fit the same slipcase? It would be cool if so and Brian's suggestion of ordering an extra 100 of an up and coming plain case was arranged so we could grab matching cases for both books.

Lurker

The Passage is wider. I don't know if I posted before but the slipcase for The Very Best of Best New Horror is a pretty good fit and seems to be made of the same material as the Dark Tower Concordance one. They look like matching cases to me. It was $25.00. I just e-mailed Paul and asked him if he had any extras.

I think what will tie the series together is the color of the book cases. The original DD Carrie had a red/maroon color and so does the AE traycase as well as the title on the GE slipcase. I can see all the GE's having black cases with only the title color matching the traycase. Maybe Shining will have a green color. Night Shift a cream color. The Stand an orange-ish color. Pet Sematary a brown-ish color. Not sure about 'Salem's Lot since it's mostly black and you can't have a black title on a black case and see it very well.

This was mentioned before but I'd love to see full size reproductions of the original DD covers inside the front of these books.

Ah, yes. Whether or not the case spines have a number like Doubleday Years #1-6, I like the idea of matching the original book colors in a subtle way. :)

I need some help gathering SK cover artwork for Stephen King Revisited. A lot of the covers can be found on the web at the larger size I need, but some of the early ones only seem to be available in smaller sizes.

So if there is anyone on here who has:

1) the free time to do some Googling for the SK original hardcover covers that are available on the web at the appropriate size

2) a collection of SK's books featuring the original US cover artwork (meaning: you don't have to have 1st printing or anything close to that, you just need to have an edition that uses the same FRONT COVER as the 1st printing) for the ones that can't be found online

3) a scanner

4) and who wants a good amount of CD store credit for helping

Please drop me a line via email:

brianfreeman@cemeterydance.com

Thanks!

Brian

I am more than happy to help you, Brian!

Brian,

My apologies if you have already answered this, but will the Gift state of your CARRIE be numbered?

Great question! They are not hand-numbered, but for the first time on any Gift Edition we've published, there IS a limitation page at the front of the book stating the print run, etc. We thought that might be helpful for new collectors down the road, etc.

Since this was a CD publication, thought I'd post it here. This seller has 18 copies of The Twelve S/L at $85 BIN + $14 Fed-Ex shipping stateside or $38 International Priority; numbers available are: 102, 104, 106, 110, 111, 112, 115, 127, 128, 130, 132, 133, 136, 138, 149, 171, 173 & 175. Issue price was $75 + shipping, so this is a good opportunity to pick one up at just barely over issue price with a good choice of numbers if you're interested.

I'm pretty much through the UPS and International orders and onto the USPS domestic orders. The only exception would be if you ordered after we started shipping the pre-orders, those will ship after we ship all of the pre-orders. Things are going to slow down a bit here though as our Holiday help is pretty much gone at this point so the speed of shipping has been pretty much halved. If your's is an international order for a single gift edition shoot me an email and I can check on it for you.

The remarqued copies will ship after the Gift Edition are completed. We'll post a note when the first ones go out the door. Thanks!

Thanks for the info Brian. I was wondering what the timeframe is on the Lettered edition? I didn't see it mentioned on the production updates page of the CD site.

We're making a style of case that we've never used before for any project, so I'm not entirely sure of the production schedule. Our case maker is closed for the holidays for another 10 days or so, but I'll ask them about the schedule once they're back. (They couldn't start before the holidays because these Lettered Editions are hand-bound and they needed a finished copy for sizing.) I'll probably wait to post any kind of date until they officially start rolling, just to be safe, but I will post something as soon as they give me a reasonably solid date. I just don't want to say "April" and have that turn out to be wrong.

Just wondering how much of the CARRIE Gift Edition have been shipped? I didn't get any notice yet, but I've seen a french fan saying that he recieved his copy...

I recieved my notice last night :)

I'm compiling a list of custom slipcases from CD. These exclude books published by CD that came with a slipcase as part of the original package. So it's primarily 1st Trade editions of books where CD made an aftermarket slipcase for them.

Not sure if a separate thread on slipcases is in order, but just looking at CD for now. This is what I have, so if there's errors or any that are missing, let me know. I've added links where I could find a page on them. Thanks.

Dan,
How many orders does it take to make it worth producing a slipcase?
For example, I'd love to have one for Pet Semetery, Dead Zone, Christine etc... ultimately it would be nice to have
one for all King books but does that take a 100 orders, a 1000?? What's it worth to do it?
thanks!

To give folks an idea of cost, Jeff can get a plate made to pretty much any specification. Cost of the plate is directly related to the size. Anywhere between £8 and £40. Charge for slipcase averages around £13.

Obviously the cost of the plate is a one off as it can be used again and again. A separate plate is required if the spine is to be embossed as well.
Costs could be kept down by having the slipcases just embossed on the spine or just have a generic 'Stephen King' on the front (this plate is already made and would incur no additional cost)
Personally I would like to have each one specific to the book, if we got 10 people to split the plate cost it becomes very reasonable (.80p to £4 each, depending on size)

Over seas... it amazes me Brian the costs there VS here for printing and all that goes long with it. I have a print company and am shocked by some of the pricing I hear of. Poland, Netherlands are just two that jump to mind for CHEAP pricing on that kind of stuff.

Soonish. I still have roughly 3 - 4 days of shipping gift editions left at our current level of help from holiday helpers. Maybe less, maybe more all depending on the whims of our part time help, and I may be over exagerating a bit as I don't know the exact numbers of how many are left to ship, just a rough estimate.

I ordered both editions the day they were announced. Will they be shipping together?

Assuming you ordered them on the same order, they will be.

My remarqued edition was shipped a couple of days ago!

sk

Are you sure about that? I haven't actually processed the remarqued editions into inventory yet, so none of those orders should have been filled. We've been holding those for last just to minimize the chances of accidentally sending someone the wrong book.

Which grab bag? I received my notice for Carrie AE from the SK grab bag but I have two others grab bags I have not received anything on yet.

I can only assume it's from that latest "sold out" one that was announced because I'm pretty sure the original grab bag orders are all complete and shipped. I have no idea what's in there, and I could be wrong...

Got my gift edition, looks great. The paper stock is great. The book feels comfortable.

Probably not that one. With us still working on Carrie we haven't had the space or time to put together the "sold out" grab bag.
