Your New Pride and Joy!

Well, the King Book Gods seem to be smiling on me recently. After winning an eBay auction for an as-new slipcased trade ed. of KNOWING DARKNESS: ARTISTS INSPIRED BY STEPHEN KING for $58 shipped (!!!...a price I still have trouble believing I paid), I today picked up a very nice NF/NF 1st ed. hardcover copy of DANSE MACABRE for $15. The bookseller (Half Price Books) had it in their collectible section for $15 but had it expressly identified as a bookclub edition...yet the $13.95 on the dustjacket and the RRD281 code on the copyright page tell a very different story. Since I haven't yet read either book, these were great finds, and not only for their collectible value and the fraction paid thereof. Oh, and I just received yesterday an email from Cemetery Dance telling me that my slipcased trade edition of THE DARK MAN has just shipped...the copy that I won for free in their recent competition.

Good times, good times...

And yes of course - I would have to send my gratitude to them all as well. And to Bad Penny - since I now have a reading copy being sent my way. At 5 pages a night it should take me and caleb about 7 months to finish - if we do not skip any days....

Okay, Wild Bill, yes, you should be given your due - although on occasion (as we Aussies day) you can be a dud root, you certainly do an outstanding job of hawking your wares for the Haven Foundation, year in, year out - Onya mate !!!!!!

Bought a first UK hardcover edition of Danse Macabre for $55 ($70 with shipping) today. A fresh listing on ABE and no time to ask questions and wait for a response. DJ has some issues but I thought for $70 I could take a chance. We'll see what I get.

Do tell us later. I would be interested to see what it looks like.

It came today and is about what I expected. Pretty nice but with a large wrinkle at the top edge of the rear panel of the dj with two fairly large tears that have been closed on the verso with largish pieces of brown tape. Otherwise just a few corner bumps and would be VG+/VG without the wrinkle and tears. Still, for $70 I am really happy with it. And with a dj protector on it I think it will look just fine. Not sure of the print run. I've heard only 600 to 1000 copies.
