Words have no power to impress the mind without the exquisite horror of their reality. Edgar Allan Poe
I watched Time Lapse over the weekend, which was a nice change on time travel from that horrible Project Almanac I watched a little while ago. It had a darker theme to it and I quite enjoyed the ending.

I saw Berkshire County, which is a Canadian horror film today. It is and isn't typical slasher fare. I could have done without some of the loud noises for tension (thankfully more in the first bit than later on), but it did a lot of things right. The arc of the main character was something more than we often get in these films. I liked the ambiguity of the killers, without knowing who they are or what their motives are, and the ending opens up to them being a part of something greater. It's one of the rare horror films I'm hoping they make a sequel for as I my interest in the killers was piqued. It was competently made and had a strong, young female lead playing a character you actually want to see survive. An easy film to compare this too is The Strangers and I enjoyed this movie far more.
4/5

Definitely sounds intriguing. Hopefully it'll open around here.
Only the gentle are ever really strong.
Recently watched Birdman. I thought it was incredible. Felt like one long shot and Michael Keaton was amazing in it. Never seen him act like that. The whole movie also had a similar "feel" to The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke.
Edit: 5 stars for sure. And why didn't Keaton win the Oscar for this.
I saw INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 3. It wasn't what I expected, which may be a good thing for Part 4, but I liked the first two chapters better.
I'm sure if there is intelligent life somewhere out there in the universe, they are wise enough to stay away from us.

I really enjoyed Jurassic World. I felt like a 13-Year-Old kid again. Well done. I'm pleasantly surprised with this one.

Jurassic world was very solid. Expected a run of the mill summer popcorn movie, but it is better than that. 4/5.
Should be catching it either today or tomorrow. Excited as hell to watch it.
All I've heard about Jurassic World is how it poorly represents gender roles. Sick of all this talk when it comes to movies, I really am. It's a freaking movie. It's not a guidebook on what roles we're supposed to play in reality.

I read. It's just that he states he is sick of these kind of rumors and then goes onto perpetuate it. Seems contradictory to me. IDK
Anyway, I'm such a good guy I'm dieing to see this, but will wait until, Wednesday so I can take my three (Grand Nephews?) along for the ride. Very much looking forward to this.

I knew Jurassic World would do business, but holy shit I did not expect second biggest international opening of all time internationally. That is just insane.
I liked Jurassic World (3D no IMAX). I pretty much hated the first 3.

Jurassic Workd was the most fun I have had at the movies in a VERY long time. Loved it more than the first three. What a ride in IMAX 3D... CRAZY! Go see it for sure

I saw it, and really enjoyed it a lot. 7/10. I liked the tie-ins to Jurassic Park too from the "old park." But, I felt it was very similar to the other movies. As in the plot being a new park, people show up, dinosaurs get out, stay alive and kill dinosaurs. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed it a lot, but it was almost like Jurassic Park 2.0. As for action movies go, I still loved the new Mad Max more.
As for gender rolls, I feel that is simply more idiots complaining to complain. I'm guessing that is about B.D. Howard? A woman dressed to impress for her job as she helps run the park and when things go array, what would she do? It's not like she is trained to hunt dinosaurs or protect people by killing them. Hell, what would anyone do? Like I said, just idiots making noise. Is every movie supposed to have Sigourney Weaver the female hero killing aliens?!?!?!
I remember reading an article back in 1993? About a movie called "Hocus Pocus." About witches. There were people complaining, that were real witches, that the movie gave witches a bad name. One reason why I dislike people so much and I hate social media. Regardless of how much people love entertainment like this more then others do, it is still a movie. Like Matt said, it is a fucking movie!!!

Saw Jurassic World today. It was good, but I was hoping it would be better. There were just so many parts of it that felt repetitive of the previous filmsSpoiler:The sense of wonderment, for the most part--the same wonderment that I still feel watching Jurassic Park for the umpteenth time--just wasn't there for me.
I also would've liked (even a minute or two) explaining what happened in between JPIII and JW and how the park got up and running. I did like the nods to JP but on the other hand, it just made me want to re-watch it again.
A NEW GAME BEGINS
