I didn't know Kyle still had this (and presumably other items as well). He decided to sell everything, what, four or five years ago?

I got his COTW 'limited trade' with Collector slipcase back then. He had a great collection with lots of proofs.

I joined in 2009 and I think he quit collecting in 2010. I think it was after he got a Night Shift proof and realized that his collection was as complete as it was going to get, with only super-rare/expensive items left to hunt for. It seems the magic was gone for him.

Yes, I remember seeing one for sale (COTW) maybe sometime last year...but don't recall if it was from Betts or eBay. I remember wanting to buy it then... I don't really mind too much when it comes to items like this whether it's bound or unbound... I guess I don't have a strong opinion either way... but it's definitely a nice item to have in your collection...

I got the only (that I know of) proof/bound manuscript of Stephen King Goes to the Movies from Kyle back in 2009. I got a few other things too. I'd love to have this COTW, but the price is too much for me.

Are the copies that you guys have the only known copies, or are there other collectors you know (that don't post here) that have copies in their collection as well? There must have been a time when these changed hands more often but I guess they're now all secured in large collections that aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

There is a collector in Ireland who has all five of the early Doubleday proofs (including Carrie) supposedly inscribed by King to Bill Thompson. There are other copies of the proofs around in collections but that is the only "complete" set that I know of. Chris Cavalier had some in his "Super Collection" sold through Betts several years ago. He was missing Carrie and The Stand. I am missing Carrie.

I don't know where Chaos-Consultants gets his information from, but he is full of shit. I have never spoken, nor had dealings with him. Never heard of him before today. Michaël is correct in being surprised. I was too when I read this. The proofs are all fine, and NOT sold.

I just wanted to set the record straight that I never communicated with this person, and the proofs are all doing fine. That is not a set I would ever plan on selling.
