I have faith in you getting more S/Ls. Most resolutions are broken by February.

I was in the same boat... Almost did it, but like you, I held off... Not sure I'll be able to not buy and S/L's this year though...

What would be a reasonable offer to make for the 70-copy edition, assuming the books and slipcase are in Fine condition as stated?

I copied this off of The Talisman page on stephenkingcollector.com: "70 numbered presentation copies, with were also signed by all the authors and illustrators. The limitation page reads the same as the lettered state above. $1,300-$1,500"

I think that was before my time on the tdt.org... wish I had a couple grand for this. I'd go for it...

I joined in 2009 and I think he quit collecting in 2010. I think it was after he got a Night Shift proof and realized that his collection was as complete as it was going to get, with only super-rare/expensive items left to hunt for. It seems the magic was gone for him.

That's interesting. Do you know what ended up happening to the Night Shift proof?

I think it was consigned and sold through Betts. Maybe it was Mike Pasiuk who got it?

Anyway, this COTW thingy is definitely interesting. I like that it is bound, personally I'm not too keen on the unbound stuff we sometimes see for sale.

Thanks for that; I'd looked at the Collector site and apparently completely skipped over that line of text. Thanks for pointing out the lack of reading skills I'm encountering today

Yes, I remember seeing one for sale (COTW) maybe sometime last year...but don't recall if it was from Betts or eBay. I remember wanting to buy it then... I don't really mind too much when it comes to items like this whether it's bound or unbound... I guess I don't have a strong opinion either way... but it's definitely a nice item to have in your collection...

I got the only (that I know of) proof/bound manuscript of Stephen King Goes to the Movies from Kyle back in 2009. I got a few other things too. I'd love to have this COTW, but the price is too much for me.

There must have been a time when these changed hands more often but I guess they're now all secured in large collections that aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
There is a collector in Ireland who has all five of the early Doubleday proofs (including Carrie) supposedly inscribed by King to Bill Thompson. There are other copies of the proofs around in collections but that is the only "complete" set that I know of. Chris Cavalier had some in his "Super Collection" sold through Betts several years ago. He was missing Carrie and The Stand. I am missing Carrie.
I just spoke to the Ireland collector and he has now sold all of his Doubleday proofs. Did someone here buy them?
I don't know where Chaos-Consultants gets his information from, but he is full of shit. I have never spoken, nor had dealings with him. Never heard of him before today. Michaël is correct in being surprised. I was too when I read this. The proofs are all fine, and NOT sold.

Unless I missed something, it's a discussion about who is in possession of the rare Doubleday proofs, that were incorrectly reported as being sold. And happily, they are still in Gerald's hands. Right?

Yes, you are correct. I was reading some older posts and I found Chaos-Consultants claim that he was in communication with me and that I sold all my proofs. I just wanted to set the record straight that I never communicated with this person, and the proofs are all doing fine. That is not a set I would ever plan on selling. My little boy just turned 1 this Christmas, and while he is not exactly a Constant Reader yet, as he is my only child, I will probably be giving him the set when he gets a bit older.
