    Remarques are always signed.
One could also argue that Dark Tower artist editions were all signed by their respective astist., but I have a DT6AE that says otherwise.

Yes, remarques are usually signed, but oversights could occur.

You're right. I stand corrected. I should have said "almost always signed". Good catch!!

However, an "AE" by definition must be signed or it's simply a mistake. Remarques, usually done by commission, are almost always signed.

God I hope so, I think the new webproject is into about a year now.
Absolutely the hardest website to keep track of, it takes me forever to figure out if I've seen a particular item before. Seriously, I'll think "here's something new" wait, no, yes, no.
Most the time I give up & leave. Sorry, but true.

Since I have my list of wants I just use the "Edit" "find" function and let Mozilla do the search for me...
But I really appreciate that David keeps up what has sold and at what price for a while. I know it makes the site even more cumbersome but I think its a valuable market comparison tool.
reality continues to ruin my life

Quick question... this is the first time I've seen the "reading copy quality" list on the Bett's site (guess I haven't been there for awhile!). Does this mean the books are first edition first printings? I understand they are most likely in rough shape, but for $2 it can't hurt, right?

I am working on the new Betts website.

What features would you like to use in it? It will include a search engine, of course, but what else?

I would like to be able to see past sale prices. It really helps when determining the current market price.

If Betts were my website I would have two ways of seeing the listings:

    1) Chronological, kinda like it is now, with the "on hold" and "sold" listings staying for a week or so and then disappearing.

    2) By the items themselves, in sections. Signed Lettereds, Signed Limiteds, US First Editions, UK First Editions, Gift/Artist/Unsigned Limiteds, Proofs/ARCs, Video, Audio, Foreign, Promo, US paperbacks and later printings, UK paperbacks and later printings, Magazines, Miscellaneous, etc.

That way, if people are in the mood for a particular type of item, they can simply go down to the section and see what's available.

And yes, I love Dan's idea. As soon as something is on hold or sold, move the item to the "Past Sales" section, with the title, the quality, the date it sold, and how much it sold for. And just keep it going, forever. Love it.

I think it would be cool if you could search as if it was a database. So by that I mean if I'm interested in all versions of the book he has available, I can filter by title (and it would bring up trades/gifts/limited etc) of that title. Same if I was keen to see what ever s/l's were available, so again, filter by that type brings up all current items for sale. Sale price, publisher - you could go on and on with the types of info a collector might want to search by. Being able to then sort the search results would be cool (ie big list of s/l in front of me, sort price low to high)

A date the item was added to the "for sale list" would also be helpful.

If you really want to get cute, a link on the item to its respective page in the catelogue here (you're welcome RF) would also be really cool. Help customers learn a bit more about the item.

I don't mind the current set-up when I'm searching for specific titles or items. I just use the "find" feature on my browser to locate the search terms on the page. BUT that only works when I'm seeking a specific book... I've only "browsed" the listings once, years ago. I would spend more money at Bett's if the contents could be searched so that I can "browse" categories or, especially, by price.

Also, it might be interesting to offer a feature to encourage repeat buyers? I'll never forget, on my second trip to the store in Bangor, that I got a discount because I was remembered from my past visit and online orders. I know it sounds silly, but to me it meant a lot and I ended up spending more because I felt appreciated. So, maybe not exactly special prices for TDT (though, c'mon, that would be awesome!) but something like a "get your tenth bagel free" kind of deal. Just an idea.

True pictures with descriptions of defects might be nice as well, not "stock photo's" with everything marked f/f, vg/vg, etc.
my apologies if somebody already stated this.

Stk and Cook, thank you! But I have to clarify that these suggestions aren't for the systemM they should be done to David himself. I only take charge of the "technical" part and I can't do promotions, or take care of the books details.

    Thanks anyway

PS: The website won't have a checkout system, it's too bureaucratic.
