This has caused panic and heightened security at my daughter's school. Not cool.

Last Saturday the video game designer and developer Ron Gilbert gave a talk in Argentina. For those who don't know him, he's the man behind Maniac Mansion, The Secret of Monkey Island 1 & 2, The Cave and the upcoming Thimbleweed Park.

I've been a video game player since I learnt about them (1984...1985) but it wasn't until I saw for the first time Maniac Mansion (running in a Commodore 64) in 1990 that my understanding of video games changed drastically. Basically I felt in love with that kind of games (for those who never played it, it's a graphic adventure) and it was the spark that made me start studying English right away. I like a lot of different video games of other genres but nothing compares to a graphic adventure. I played The Secret of Monkey Island 1 & 2 for the first time in 1994 and these two are still my favorite video games ever, along with Maniac Mansion. I became a video game designer thanks to these games and I've been always dreaming about design a graphic adventure (objective not completed yet).

Well, Ron Gilbert gave a long interview last Saturday and then you could get one item signed and have a picture with him. I was with a friend who had nothing to get signed so he got my other item signed. It was a priceless moment to spend a few seconds with one of the guys I admire the most.

IF the movie was coming out this month or even next I think it would have helped.... but not for next year

For selling horror movies about clowns, probably. Otherwise I'm mostly indifferent. I mean, I don't support the few crimes that have actually been perpetrated or attempted that may have been spurred by this clown craze. I just think it's borderline hysteria over something relatively minor.

You're probably right. But you never know, these kind of things can stick with people, kids especially, for a while.

Excellent post! Very random. I also don't like Progresso. However Campbell's "Slow Kettle Style" soups are really good IMO. I especially like the Tomato & Sweet Basil Bisque.
