Hard shoulders on motorways are scary places! I had my second puncture on the car in a month, the first time ever on a motorway (the M6 near Lancaster). I had to change the Offside rear tyre with less than 2 foot to work in before the white line with the lorries and coaches thundering pass at 70mph.
I was going along fairly quickly in the 'fast lane' with a car close behind me. I looked in the rear view mirror to check if it was safe to move into the middle lane and saw clouds of smoke from the right hand side of the car. As the car did not feel any different, I initially thought it was smoke coming out of the right hand side tailpipes. I moved over to the middle lane and then the car started coming light at the rear and difficult to control. Then I assumed it was a puncture. I managed to pull across safely to hard shoulder. It was only when I saw the tyre that I realised how lucky I was.
I took some photos later of the tyre before it was replaced. £600 on tyres in one month!

Quick question that maybe one of you UK guys can answer for me what is usual cost for shipping across the pond? Today, the french chess league launched a chess competition on twitter with the leader french chess player.
From roughly 12-20/21yo, I used to play chess in club. I havent 'really' played in a bit less than 10 years, and in the meantime I've discovered today that the leading french player (which I remember his name from the time) has also now become the 10th worldwide chess player !
Quite impressive!

Depending on weight, size etc. to the U.k. is about $25-40 and about the same coming back, Insurance is a game changer though and perhaps not worth the money.

Reaching another of life's many milestones today. Going down to the Social Security office to stand in line and register for Medicare.

A french publisher contacted me a wee while ago for a book about Stephen King.
About a month or so ago I sent him a first draft, and he told me today that he likes it and want to go forward with it (probably need a bit of editing but nothing major).
