Some time ago. I started a project to restore a 1947 Sonora AM/FM Phonograph. The piece was a High School geaduation present for my now deceased Father In-Law. It's finally done. Mt wife will receive it at her 50th birthday party on October 1st.

Did you restore this yourself??? That's seriously awesome! It's like watching American Restoration or Pawn Stars after they fix up the old stuff
Most of the work was done by experts. I had a wood finisher and an Antique electronics person work on it.

With a 78 RPM record it sounds just like it would have in 1947.
I have an issue with a beat up book (listed as brand new and then shipped in a padded envelope of all things!) from ABE. Has anyone had problems with returning merchandise purchased through ABE before? Just curious because this book is not worth the $13 bucks I paid for it. All four corners (front and back) are smashed, pages are crimped from the corner smashing, and there are multiple scratches on the cover.
You will have no problem. Just click the button to initiate return and proceed. It takes several days but eventually you get the credit. I've done it a couple of times without the OK from the seller.

Edit: To top of this book I just noticed that it has a remainder mark on it made with a thick tipped black marker.
I returned one that cost four dollars a couple of weeks ago.

Just bought a laptop yesterday, so am finally back on-line. The move to Colorado Springs went pretty smooth, all things considered, no major glitches. It was horrifying watching them pack my books; even though I put them all in sleeves and bubble-wrapped and packed the best of them myself, the rest were subjected to "fit 'em all in that box" despite my pleading to be careful. I dread opening everything when it finally arrives (late November sometime, if on schedule).
Got out here on the 8th, lucky to get a full apartment in Peterson AFB billeting for the first 30 days so have a cheap roof over our heads until October 8th. While checking in, ran into the wife of a friend of mine from Germany and Italy ... she recognized me, I didn't recognize her. They ended up loaning us an extra car and GPS, so that's was a stroke of luck. Got pre-approved for a house loan based solely on my retirement pay, so have begun househunting. Still waiting on word of the job, deadline for that is the 30th ... fingers crossed one of the contracts will come through, then our house-buying ceiling can go up a bit. Some gorgeous houses out here, and prices are really good, buyers market.
Between getting adjusted, finding a school for our son, car hunting, house hunting, learning the area ... not enough time in the day. To top it off, on Friday my son fell of the monkey bars at his new school (first week there) and broke his right elbow. Really bad, both bones, lots of damage, and he's only 7. They rushed him to the hospital and he had surgery right away, couple of pins and such in there now and a cast for 2-4 months. He's in a quite a bit of pain, but we sent him to school today anyway (mean parents) and they said he did okay. Poor kid, he can't do any of his normal stuff and is just miserable.
Anyway, that's the story here so far. Weather's fantastic, C Springs is pretty damn nice, only drawback so far is that people drive like idiots, don't seem to understand what yield and merge mean, and there are traffic cops just everywhere with their little radar guns ... I miss German driving, you just don't have to put up with that foolishness over there! Bob, I'll be down Amarillo way probably within the next week or so ... got the message today that my wife's car has arrived at the port in Dallas, so will be flying down to pick it up. Need anything from Colorado Springs?

I'm going to the British Fantasy Convention in Brighton this weekend where the book is going to be launched, there will be a bunch of authors there to sign the book too
