I have encountered some real "Gems" in the teaching community over the years. There is a pretty comedic story in my collection thread concerning the time I "had dinner with the President" as one example. It is quite amazing how obtuse supposedly well educated professionals can be at times. Then again, maybe it's because they are dealing with children so much!!! LOL LOLYep. I've been having some trouble with my eyesight for about a year now (just after I got new glasses)--I have problems reading, both print and on the computer. I have to take my glasses off to read either. I went to the optometrist this morning and it seems that my incipient cataracts are growing somewhat. He did give me a new prescription for my right eye and I'll be getting a new lens soon. He said that if it continues to worsen, I may need surgery. Getting old is a bitch.

Sorry to hear that John. And yes, getting old can be tough. I find myself unable to do some of the things I used to be able to do without a second thought and it takes adjusting to it.
Hell I'm still young and can already tell my eye site is getting bad. (Staring at a computer for 8 hours a day then reading all night probably doesn't help them relax)
It affects your spelling as well...
Getting LASIK close to two years ago was a game-changer for me. If my kids would bump my glasses, I would become incredibly nauseous, and at times needed my glasses adjusted several times a week. So thankful those days are behind me.

John I had cataract surgery on one eye at 49 and the other done a couple of years ago at 56. And it is wonderful. Altho I have to wear readers, for the first time since elementary school no more glasses. Not to drive, not to watch TV etc. Surgery was quick and I'm 20/20 for anything over about four feet. And for the first time I can wear real sunglasses!
