Sharing a New Year's Eve/Day tradition with you all....maybe you want to incorporate it into your families.

My wife's family coined the term "Choose Your Own."

The deal is this...each member of the family gets to choose a favorite food for themselves and then eat as much of it and as often as they want during new year's eve/day. Pure gluttony to start the year, but a tradition that my 3 kids begin talking and speculating about as early as summer. It's a lot of fun and easy to do.

Choices by my family this year (we are vegetarians):

Me: I call it the "CLT" as opposed to a BLT. Bacon is substituted for aged provolone cheese. You fry it up in a non-stick fan (T-fal or something like it), the cheese crisps up to a consistency, saltiness and uncanny taste like bacon. Top with nice tomatoes and lettuce and you have a "CLT"
Wife: 7 layer bean dip
Oldest Son: 2 whole pans of stuffed shells (over 60 shells in all). Can you tell he's a teenager?
Son #2: Subway sandwiches
Daughter: "Mexican Wedding Cookies" a grandmother recipe that is basically dough covered in powdered sugar

2 cats: They have not participated in the past...maybe unlimited catnip?

Try it out on your own family, There is still time to plan for tonight!

Wiz, what a great family tradition. However I'm too afraid of what my young sons will dream up - and how much of it they would consume, so maybe next year.
