Well, I hate to say this, but unfortunately it's a fact of life. Our favorite author isn't getting any younger and given his youthful transgressions.............
That unfortunate incident will create a "boon" to the market. Plus the market does seem to be recovering somewhat.

You speak in tongues, Sir Merlin. Maybe you shouldn't have posted, but you piqued my curiosity so now I want to know
Jesus!!! When an Artist/Author dies his works increase in value!!! Happy???????
I'm not sure what the ulterior motive here is, but whether you like it or not, that's a fact Jack. Get what you wanted, Mike? I have many "Ron Wood" and "Roger Dean" art pieces. When they pass, they will be worth double the current value. There ya go!!!
Don't worry, I'm out!!!

Relax man, the way you wrote it I just thought some kind of incident already happened. And I don't think talking about 'it' will make 'it' happen anytime sooner.

The highest priced items will always hold their value.
Seriously Bill, I have lost count of the number of times you acted like this. You make a statement, people ask an innocent question, for some reason you get all fired up and then suddenly it's their fault for asking and you're 'out'. Well, fuck that.
Yeah, you pissed me off.
WHAT WAS THE LAST KING BOOK TO HIT THE BESTSELLER LIST?
Lol I believe it was 11/22/63?
Bill, octopus!
That will never get old.
Sorry about that, but you are being a bit of a dick here. Yes. I was trying to characterize Mr. Kings death in a "lighter and future" way. However, I think if you read thru the posts you will see that I am not "flipping out". Regardless, I really don't need this stuff in my life right now. So whatever you believe is right is fine by me. I have other fish to fry!! Enjoy, My brother from another Mother!!!
Oh, and stop with the "relax" crap. I am very relaxed, thank you! Have a great life!!! I have no hard feelings either way.

Once King passes his stuff will skyrocket. Also nearly everything he publishes now goes straight to the bestseller list
My approach has always been to buy and collect items that I really wanted in my collection with little or no thought given to future value. Of course it is a fact of life that sometimes items can be sold later at a profit (or loss) but that has not factored heavily in my collecting decisions. If you collect what makes you happy then, by and large, you will always be happy with your collection. If you buy something because you think the value will go up in the future then you may (probably will) be disappointed. I don't think that books are very good investments compared to other things (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, etc.).
Very well written Bob, I agree and I collect the same way.
I agree 100%. To me collecting King is a celebration and acknowledgment of his works and talent. If I had invested my collecting money into some other investment its possible I would be a rich woman right now. The collection is for me - the "investment" (if there is any) will be for my kids when I die...
You invest in IRAs for the future; same fo 401Ks; some people invest in stocks, or bonds or T Bills for the future; some in real estate! Some just collect the measly interest your bank or credit union provides; some people invest in precious metals. To me these are all investments where you are looking for a greater return!
Some people collect stamps or Hess Trucks or coins or signed sports memorabilia or Lucy dolls, or ** gasp ** even collectible books - but most of these collectors in my mind do it for the joy of collecting it. I may say to my wife its an investment, but the return is simply my happiness! I just tell her that becasue she does not get or see the happiness in collecting Stephen King books and whatnot! :-)

Spoiler:
Thats what I tell my kids. So when they try to hit me up for money I tell them I have none 'cause Im putting it all into their investment...
Bill, I think you were out of line. Reading the thread, I understood what you meant, but could see someone (especially someone with English as their second language) not knowing what you meant. There really was no need for the "dick" comment.
Bill, I have to say I agree with RF .... personally don't think Michael said anything wrong at all, he just asked for clarification. At first I thought you were joking with your response, but obviously (now) you were really agitated. I won't say "relax" (out of fear), but I'll absolutely say that I think the personal attack was unjusitified. Michael's not exactly known for being a smart-mouth jerk, know what I mean? The man has a cat in his avatar photo, for chrissakes (not that that's a bad thing Michael!)
