So, I have owned this for about 10 years now. The handwriting, creases, folds and the cut-out all match exactly on screen.
I was lucky enough to meet Frank Darabont and he explained they only had time to finish one book for filming.

WOW! That is very very special....CONGRATS! I've searched for years to find an authentic rock hammer that looks exactly like the one Andy used in the movie but I (and others I know) have not found such an item...this bible is way way cool!
Dragline : Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me - with nothin'.
Luke : Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
That is REALLY cool. I loved that part in the movie. Congrats on having such a unique item.
Yes sir! That is way cool!

Thread Station Break:
A fun fact about the Shawshank Bible (most of you probably already know). Frank used two in the movie filming. As Palooka already pointed out, only one had the hammer routing done (a very delicate process) and it had a black ribbon. The scene where the warden hands the bible through the bars has a purple ribbon. Two bibles used for the filming.
....and now....back to our normal thread conversation.

I seriously jaw dropped at that Shawshank Bible. That’s one of the coolest collectibles I’ve seen.

Hell yes, that’s magnificent - a true collectible. Congratulations (and yes, love to know how you acquired it)
Wow, that's an amazing collectible to have! A hugely significant prop in a hugely popular movie, and immediately recognizable to so many people. Congratulations!
Thank you for the wonderful feedback. I figured you folk might enjoy seeing it
No great quest or mission to take ownership of the Bible. Props is my day to day business and we were approached by the previous owner. So sadly no "look what I found in the garbage" story.
I have a couple of other pieces that I'll post soon. Well, as soon as the builders are gone and I can inbox everything again.
The fact that the rock hammer cutout starts at the book of Exodus is neat.
The Centipede S/L edition of If You Could See Me Now, by Peter Straub - fresh and minty straight from the publisher!
They still have some copies available. This was OOP, so I guess Jerad found some extras.
