Just viewed the Hateful 8 for the fourth time and it occurred to me. Did anyone else catch what I thought was a BIG blooper?
Spoiler:
Tim Roth, asks Walter Goggins if he has the "Lincoln Letter" as he knows there is someone in the stagecoach party that has one. Yet, there is no way he could know as, Sam Jackson is an unexpected guest. Seemed like an unusual mis-step by, QT. Especially considering the relative importance of the letter in the plot thread.
4th time??? How could anyone sit through this 4 times. lol
its possible Jennifer Leigh (prisoner) let him know somehow.
SPOILER
She didn't believe the letter was real and Mobray's character didn't know who had it. Considering her character, I think she would have made it well know that the black guy had the letter if you know what I mean? Kurt Russell is the one who corrects Mobray when he asks who has the letter so we assume he said it in the first place but we can't figure out why he didn't say who had it or why he brought it up to strangers, although, he did buy Mobray's story hook, line and sinker so there was some trust there but still...it's a little weird.
Nope. You're "assuming". My story and I'm sticking with it.
I'm not ready to move on from The Hateful Eight, there's still a ton to talk about regarding the film. I was hoping to see it again in theaters, but it's gone extinct around here. That said...
What kind of movie should Tarantino make next? Should he stick with Westerns and make this a Western trilogy with Django? Should he finally do another Kill Bill film? What about something new, which genre do you think he should tackle next?
I would love to see Tarantino tackle a sci fi movie.
Science fiction films have very rigid trappings and often drown themselves in their own seriousness so to see his subversive take on that genre would be fascinating. I can only imagine the kind of dialogue the androids in his film will engage in
I'm not 100% sure, but I think I saw an article with him saying he had an idea for a Sci-Fi movie (or maybe just that he wanted to make one).

So the release on video is March 29. On amazon the blue ray runs 187 min, the dvd runs 168. I assume the blue ray has the roadshow cut on it? Can't find many details about it.

Good catch, my man. I'm hoping they release a steelbook version. I love the Django Unchained one I got at Target.
Mike, does it have the roadshow version, or is it just the theatrical release?
Unfortunately, it does not. As cool the steelbook is, I'm a little disappointed it didn't include the roadshow version. Actually, the bonus material in general is disappointing. Oh well.
Do you know if the roadshow version has been released at all?
Apparently, QT doesn't want the roadshow version to be released on Blu-ray or DVD. I guess he wants to keep the roadshow version as a theatrical experience only.
Let's not fool ourselves though, once Harvey has his say, they will release a special edition with the roadshow version forcing suckers like us to buy both versions.
I will say that at least the main menu has the compete overture song, so that's cool.
Oh man that's a bummer. QT of all people should know his fans want to see it. It was out in such a limited release there's no way all the hardcore fans could go see it.
Just like 13 years later all the Tarantino fans have a copy of the uncut full color KILL BILL.
Spoiler:
Sorry folks no English subtitles while they speak Japanese. This IS a Japanese DVD.(no need for subtitles)
also note these rights are held by Universal not Miramax. So don't hold your breath.

Bruce, I have one of the Japanese Kill Bill sets. It's Vol. 1 and 2 together; UPC 4988102018931. One of the best purchases I've ever made. So many bonus features (though all the menus are in Japanese; it's trial and error to see what you get while clicking through the menus). However, for this set you can set it to make sure the Japanese is subtitled. True, there is no option for only the Japanese to get subtitled, but if you set the subtitles to "English," everything gets subtitled. It's all-or-nothing. Perhaps the version you pictured works the same?
I also found it interesting that on my version, Chiaki Kuriyama (Gogo Yubari) gets like second or third billing! The Japanese promoting one of their own.
