Wait, what? No one told me that Macmillan published a limited edition of China's Iron Council back in 2004! And that the new Subterranean Press omnibus limited edition of three Silverberg novels is almost sold out?!

Okay, deep breath. Now that my mini collections are back on track and the proper numbers reserved, I can breath easy. Okay, I SWEAR I'm saving for that King S/L I was going on about in the other thread. Swear. Having my first son in April shouldn't derail my funding plan, will it?

Sorry about the bad quality images.

I don't read Clive Barker much anymore. COLDHEART CANYON, I thought, was really good. But I haven't gotten past 20 pages or so of anything he has written since. Still, this book is one of, if not the, most beautiful book in my collection. It's the "ultra" edition of THE ADVENTURES OF MR. MAXIMILLIAN BACCHUS AND HIS TRAVELING CIRCUS. Published by Bad Moon Books. Hand bound by Marlyn Bonaventure (personally I have never heard of her but she is supposed to be pretty well known). The front and back boards have hand laid designs. Supposedly no two are alike but I haven't seen any others to be for certain. Original artwork in each book by Richard Kirk and Clive Barker. It's a small book but it just feels, smells and looks perfect. Really a nice job.

Depends on the publisher. A lot of them do "lettered" states of the books in 15-copy editions and call them "ultras".

I see Because in this case the ultra state was different from the lettered, so it made me wonder how often there are four (or more?) states of a book.

I really like the design of the compass on the front cover of the Barker book; however, I find Barker to be all but unreadable.

Bob, that is a beautiful production, and I love that original drawing of the goblin in your book.

RoG33, if you decide that you like that Joe Hill book, we've got an entire thread dedicated to that author here in the Corner.

I really love both drawings, the Kirk drawing is really neat, very polished but I also love the charm of the rough Barker drawing as well, all in all a fantastic presentation.

I used to collect Piers Anthony, he has written some wonderful books. But after a while I realized he was writing the same book over and over, all his characters were variations of the same person, so I quit buying his books. Maybe I'll post pictures of my Anthony books, just for kicks.
