"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
The chapbook contains material I removed from The Road to the Dark Tower before I submitted the manuscript. The book was way over the proposed word count as it was, but my editor didn't complain. When Brian asked me if I had anything associational to go with their promotion, this material sprang to mind, and the title just seemed perfect. Good characters, bad characters, and old double-ugly.

Thanks Bev. I was fortunate to be given the chap book as an 'extra' from a member here (Thanks Tom ). I also managed to acquire a copy of "The Road.." recently (not as cheap as the one mentioned here, but still a good price). I look forward to reading it when it arrives.

Betts has a couple for sale. There are generally three versions to look out for. Most of the Starmont books were published in a hardcover and most of the hardcovers had a copy of the paperback cover glued onto the front of a leatherbound book. Nice books, I have all but one I think. These go for 25-$30 generally Then there were the regular perfect bound copies like you see here. Generally these go for about $15-20 and have not been as collectable. Certainly there is a much smaller market for these. The third version have either a Borgo Press stamp, or have been reprinted as a Borgo Press. Borgo took over the catalog when Starmont folded. I wouldn't comment on the value of these, but certainly if you want the first, you want the Starmont and not the Borgo stamped copy. And finally, Borgo has gone under and some other company picked up the catalog and last I read I think you can buy them as print on demand through amazon. Who knows if they have kept the same style or CP info
