Shit, I feel like Jack Skellington. "What's this!? What's this!?"
I'm just wondering how they got all the rights to these different properties.

I had this idea years ago, where you'd take all of the Castle Rock-set stories and do it as something of a dramatic soap opera, with everything interconnected and ending with the apocalyptic events of Needful Things. I expect my royalty check in the mail any day now . . .
"I aim to misbehave."

"I am a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar."
-- Hoban Washburne
"What does that make us?"
"Big damn heroes, sir."
"Ain't we just."
-- Malcolm Reynolds and Zoe Washburne

I wish they had given a date for the release...it'd given me something to look forward to!
Yes, I need more info.!

Also, wonder if the new novella with Richard Chizmar has anything to do with this.
The soundbytes, are those lifted from the movies directly or are they new?
This is real. I'm a betting man that this ties in with the novella that King and Richard worked on too. JJ and King I think are quite friendly too.... this could be FANTASTIC if done right!!!!

The articles popping up about this teaser are calling it a limited anthology series, though no official indication for that is given. Very plausible, of course. Or it could be an ongoing series with a throughline plot.

It sounds like they're taking one of the cool things about reading King where there are so many mentions of other characters and interactions between books and stories and weaving that into a connective narrative. Could be interesting.

The Hollywood Reporter speculates that Castle Rock will be an anthology series where "each season will follow a different set of character and story lines while interjecting themes and specific characters from previous seasons," like how Fargo mines the Coen Brothers' cinematic universe.

Following their collaboration on 11.22.63, J.J. Abrams is reteaming with Stephen King for another Hulu limited series based on King’s works. Titled Castle Rock, the series is being written by Manhattan creator Sam Shaw and Dusty Thomason.
Castle Rock, from Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros TV where the company is under a deal, is based on short stories by King. It is named after Castle Rock, the fictional area in King’s native Maine that serves as the setting for a number of his novels, novellas, and short stories.
Like the sound of that. Baed on actual stories by King, instead of something like Haven. Maybe we will finally get adaptations of Mrs. Todd's Shortcut. The Man in the Black Suit, Nona, It Grows On You, and other Castle Rock tales.
10 episodes, with production scheduled to begin later this year.
A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories such as Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption are either set there or contain references to Castle Rock. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.

Super pet-peeve of mine when It is capitalized. The novel is not about information technologies!

WTF. IT is capitalized as IT is an it always will be. Wherever IT is, it is there. No debating it, IT has been the capitalized for every "it"eration of the novel and the book. There are ~16,601 it usages in the novel IT. most are lowercase as they are not used as the novel title, nor the monsters name.
Get used to it. IT is it.
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King

It'll either rock or flop; see no middle ground here. And remember, folks, "based on" being the key words.
