Awww, now I feel bad. FWIW I knew what it felt like yesterday. Not a good feeling at all. Hang in there, maybe destiny will find a way to smile on you as well. I was way down in the dumps, and now I am in the clouds. You just never know what can happen. So have faith!!!

Because of all the restrictions put on ticket purchases, I won't be attending this signing now, very bummed about this, not only sad about missing King but also about missing out on getting to socialize with diehard King fans, oh well hopefully there will be another tour next year, fingers crossed!

We absolutely need to meet at a pub/restaurant ~11am the day of event. I think the line starts at 3pm, and signing at 5pm. Same thing with getting together after the event. I'm guessing the signing will be over by ~7pm.

I looked at rooms close to the event and they are very pricey. $250-$350 (+ tax and also $25 parking) for hotels < 1/2 mile from event. Holiday Inn Express is $120. It's a few miles away, but my wife is happy to be my DD. Free breakfast too.

But!.... you can't come to Austin and eat a motel breakfast! what's up with that????

You'll definitely want to hit:
Magnolia's Cafe,
or Kerbey lane Cafe,
or Hyde Park Cafe (aka. the Fork),
or Star Seeds... looks like a Dive, but the food is great...
or Round Rock Donuts (best donuts I've had anywhere puts those Krispy Cremers to shame)
or...etc, etc
but definitely NOT stale bagels from the hotel breakfast bar..... defeats one of the purpose's for coming to Austin


BTW... you can find lodging a lot cheaper (60-80 bucks or less) on the North side of town - up toward Pflugerville where I live.
you'd just have to drive through town to from the event... but I have to do that myself

yep... I've lived here long enough to see the old Armadillo World Headquarters give birth to Willie Nelson and Stevie Ray Vaughn.... not to mention seeing AC/DC play their first American gig there.

Though I have to admit... in the past decade, Austin has been changing faster than I could keep up with. Definitely not the quirky little city it was when I moved here in the 70's .
