Although you can vote for a maximum of 6 films in the polls, it doesn't necessarily mean you HAVE to vote for 6. We encourage you to vote only on those you strongly feel deserve to move on to the next round.

I'll be holding off voting for a few days because Netflix just sent me Star Wars
because I've never seen it.
A NEW GAME BEGINS
Correct. It's the first one chronologically, as far as release dates go.
I'm sure you'll like it. I mean the series as a whole has always been about broad strokes, especially the first trilogy. It's your quintessential Good Guys vs Evil Empire. Its charm lies in its inventiveness, the cast of alien characters, the advanced weaponry, not to mention what is possibly cinema's greatest villain ever.
Coming soon:
First group for me where it's less than six films:
The Wrath of Khan
Je t'aime, je t'aime
Moon
A New Hope
Somewhere In Time
Alright, just who did not vote for "Star Wars"? C'mon 'fess up!! Are you nuts? LOL

Three votes.
Road Warrior, Star Wars (IV, what a bonehead name, it's Start Wars-period), and Pitch Black.
No fucking way I'm voting for Mr. "Corinthian Leather" as Khan.

Pretty surprising seeing Pitch Black racking up so many votes.
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (still one of if not the greatest Star Trek film ever made. I love how it deconstructs so many key ideas of the original series, especially regarding Kirk, and how one villain who appeared in one single episode before being forgotten about completely by Kirk returns to cause so much destruction. Into Darkness was cool, but nothing beats Ricardo's original portrayal of Khan, who in this film has more than a few deliberate parallels with Captain Ahab, and that final scene? Fuck. Add in some fucking thrilling space combat sequences that really got me interested in the director's influence of Hornblower, and you have not just a great Star Trek story but a great scifi story in general.)
Moon (an amazingly simple little film that gives so much material to its lead actor. Oh, and if you can find a way, watch it in black & white. Me and my mate watched it in black and white accidentally, and it was so fucking beautiful and atmospheric as a result. In fact, that might be a topic for another thread: what colour movies would actually work better in black and white?)
Pitch Black (Still the best Vin Diesel movie ever, and while not exactly original, it's a great well made r-rated horror. Shame about the sequel though. I'm interested in the more recent Riddick film, I'm just worried it might've borrowed too much from Pitch. Still, I'll give it a go eventually)
Star Wars (the movie that defined blockbusters forever, and for very good reason. It threw so many genres together - science fiction, fairy tale, adventure, even a coming-of-age story - and had so much great, tight storytelling that was severely lacking in the prequels. The Death Star trench sequence still remains one of the most thrilling sequences I've watched in film.)
Never be cruel and never be cowardly. And if you ever are, always make amends.
You are a walking talking Doctor Who encyclopedia to me. - Melike
I'm not a Star Trek buff, but I liked Search for Spock better.
