I don't know, I started out with some easy ones because, well, they were easy and cheap. I think it depends how big the 'urge' is to get them, and how much money you want to spend of course. You could either buy a bunch of easy proofs at once, or spend the same amount of money on a single, scarce proof (knowing that the easy ones will still be there later). The latter is what I'm doing now.
At the moment I have 29 US proofs/ARCs and 23 UK proofs/ARCs so I'm slowly getting somewhere but as long as I don't want to pay more than $500 for a single proof, I think my options are running out slowly.
I guess i have to start with the cheap ones ,
I have a 1 year old daughter and another baby coming in april,
so i guess i know where most of my money will go now
But its hard to see a scarce proof on ebay and dont bid
Welcome olverts! I look forward to seeing pictures of your collection. It sounds very impressive!
Congrats also on the new baby. I too have my first due in April!

Hi Bob! You probably don't remember me, but many years ago I purchased your S/L Cycle of the Werewolf #90 with matching #90 portfolio. I am still quite happy...Now I own Betts! How about that!
Dragline : Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me - with nothin'.
Luke : Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
LOL, of course I remember you!
I had 2 matching sets of Cycle. Berni was at the San Diego ComicCon, and would sign up to 4 pieces at a time, so I spent 4 days hauling the portfolios to the convention so I could get all of the prints signed in both sets.
By the 3rd day, Berni and I were on a first name basis, and he finished signing the last pages from the first portfolio. He asked how many more pieces I needed signatures for, and I produced the second portfolio. He laughed and then graciously signed the entire portfolio at one time.
He was truly a gentleman, and was definitely the highlight of the convention for me that year!

PS If you need confirmation for my Dark Tower set (#443), I'm sure that carlosdetweiler will vouch for me.
PPS I tried sending you a private message, but received a message back that I don't have permission to do so. Are there any special requirements for sending private messages, or does someone just need to change my permissions?
PPPS carlos is right, I did approach Stu about Betts. After lengthy discussion with my wife, we decided that winter in Maine would just be too much for us and decided to stay in Southern California. Anyway, congrats on your purchase and regards to chriscujo if you happen to speak with him.
It did. And welcome, Bob! I remember you from SKEMERs, too. Also, weren't you rather active in the old DarkTower.com?

Howdy Bob, and of course I rememer you from the SKEMERs days!
Good memory on the dinner with SK too. We bought the dinner (along with Kathie and Larry Pearson) at the Bangor YMCA auction in 1999. About a month after the auction, we received an inscribed copy of the Whitney Museum edition of "My Pretty Pony" as a "thank you" from Mr. King. The book holds a place of honor in my office and will always be one of our most prized possessions.
The dinner was delayed due to SK's "confrontation" with a van in Bangor and his subsequent recovery. We did finally connect in San Francisco on October 5, 2001 (Liz and my 9th wedding anniversary) for a very pleasant meal at the Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco. The photo used as my avatar was taken following our meal.
Very cool indeed!

Welcome to TheDarkTower.org, HArrison, Cook and IowaBob! Glad to have you all here. Please don't hesitate to join in any discussion.
Bob, I'm enjoying your stories. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the welcome, I haven't had to much time for involvement lately. I work to damn much but.. I do have a job, which means I get to pay my mortgage & start my king collection back up. I was away (from collecting) for a couple of years during the "recession". I've got a pretty decent collection which I'll post someday & I hope to donate a book or 2 to the haven cause after we finish moving & painting the "office/library/music room" .
Welcome, everyone! Perhaps a moderator can move the off-topic posts here?
Looks like you got your wish.
And my apology for "hijacking" the DT Complete Set thread. I wasn't able to send private messages, so every time someone commented to me, I didn't have much choice but to reply in the same thread. Messages are working for me now, so I won't do it again, promise.
