Not exactly a "One Hit Wonder", but a great tune nonetheless...

All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
That's a good one, Jon!!!!
Did we do this one and if so, does it qualify?
Either way it's a great song and considering it's July 4th weekend it seems somewhat appropriate.

Okay, you got me on those two. Though I never cared for "Starry Night" myself.
I knew Julian had a couple off the debut album, but he was still kind of a flash in the pan.
How about this one...
Again, only really cared for this cut which, he did a fair job with. IMHO
Of course, hard to top the original...
Rambling, but I have always relished this cover over the original...

I never saw the point of covering a song that already had Bowie and Robert Fripp, but I suppose Jakob Dylan thought otherwise.
That said though, he is not a one-hit wonder either. The Wallflowers charted a couple of times with their own songs. In fact, one of them is being used in some commercial I seem to see pretty often.
Let us just say that I strongly prefer his father.
PS. Not that I am trying to get into the habit of correcting you, but the McLean song is called "Vincent" though you are hardly the first person to identify it as "Starry Night."

Correct away. This is a kinda "fooling about" thread after all. I appreciate the education.

I THINK I am safe with this one.
All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
I DO deeply love my American Pie though!
All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
Blasted Hell...I forgot about Cats in the Cradle.
All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
I'm beginning to feel like a gameshow judge.
Cat Stevens charted with a few other songs.
"Father and Son" made it to #2.
His cover of "Another Saturday Night" made it to #19 (though Sam Cooke's version is profoundly better)
"Morning Has Broken" topped out at #8.
"Moonshadow" was #22.
Actually, though "Wild World" is probably his most known song, all of the above outperformed it on the charts as "Wild World" peaked at #52.
Though we're only talking singles here, his Tea for the Tillerman album went gold.
"Nothing surprises me anymore." - Walt Longmire
Well, they are "our" rules and we could always expand them to include "One Hit Album" wonders if you like. Such as "Boston" and even "Bat out of Hell" (granted iffy).
If you don't mind, Nick you're doing rather well as the old Game Show host. LOL
I think this one is safe.

Think again my friend. I would have thought this one much easier. You are clearly forgetting "She's a Beauty"
IMO a much better song and video from the era when those carried the same weight. I looked up the chart positions. "Talk to You Later" never cracked the top 100. "She's a Beauty" hit #10.
Thanks though, this reminded me how much I liked the Tubes.

Shit, getting old sucks. How the fuck could I forget that one!!!
Lunatic Fringe is a keeper though, right?
