    I read this when it first came out and remember thinking it was "pretty good." Then when the TV mini-series was announced a couple of years ago I re-read it and realized it was better than just "pretty good." So I rated it 4.

    (I never did watch the TV show. I'm sure I would have been disappointed given how much I enjoyed the written story.)

    Even though King too often turns to writers as the primary protagonists, it works very well in this novel. And, for the most part, the narrative tone is understated, quiet and really creepy. Plus, I really liked reading a novel where the lawyer (my profession; we ain't all bad) is a good guy. 4.5.
