No kidding to those that didn't know that! Don't know if that's the specific answer you were looking for but it's a pretty fun conversation piece to horror junkies!

The Shatner mask used for reference was bought for under $2.00!

Yes!!! Story I heard is that the Director (Carpenter) sent a costume guy to a novelty store to pick up a scary mask. They were on a tight budget, so he grabbed a Shatner "Star Tek" mask, teased the hair, pulled some out and bleached off the paint and Voila'. A Movie legend was born!!!

That's great. I've never heard that before but I would agree that Captain Kirk can be very scary!

Yeah!! Don't know how long that mask or technique(?) was used in the subsequent sequels, but I have it on good authority through the media over the years that the story is valid for the original at least.

Michael Myer's mask wasn't intended to be anyone in particular. John Carpenter just wanted a mask that was scary looking...so they took a William Shatner mask(because that was the most plain-looking mask they could find), cut the eye holes wider, shaved off the eyebrows and spray-painted the mask white.

Be aware, all of this is on the internet, therefore it must be true.

That is a correct statement. I was para-phrasing from memory, but I never got this story from the internet. I read about in a "fan-zine" and saw a documentary in which Carpenter and the Costume guy related it.

I didn't "google" it either! When I bought my MM mask at a Halloween shop in Texas about 10 years ago, the owner of the store told me about it!!!!!

They paid less than $2.00 for the Shanter mask, I paid $75.00 for the MM Mask!

It was an awesome mask though...

Thanks Merlin good buddy! I know it can be slightly disturbing to "know" my inner thoughts but in the end it can be very rewarding.

P.S. To try and keep this on topic check out this magazine. I think the price is off but it looks like a neat collectable.
