The cinematography in Prisoners was fantastic, such natural lighting and great colour tones.

Prisoners was great all around, too bad it didn't get more recognition.
Cate Blanchette was fantastic in Blue Jasmine. I am thinking Best Actress will be the toughest category to pick this year...Adams, Bullock and Blanchette are all equally deserving. Will be a difficult decision to make.

He was nominated for Skyfall last year wasn't he? I picked him last year and he didn't win. I can't believe I'll be done with all the oscar films so quickly, it's a dense field this year.

I hope Jolie's film as a director is better than her acting career...yipes, she didn't make a good film for a long, long time...though I never saw Eastwood's Changeling which is the only thing she's done in a decade I'd care to see.

I'd definitely recommend that one. I'm not a fan of Jolie at all, but that film was excellent.
Only the gentle are ever really strong.
Well, she's off to a shaky start as a director too. Her first film, In the Land of Blood and Honey, was critically panned.
Heather's right, Changeling was a good film and she was very strong in it. I think she was nominated for an Oscar. I think the odd name of the film turned people off. Eastwood had a streak of directing films with weird names. Invictus is the other. I also loved her in Girl, Interrupted. She had a small role in The Good Shepherd, for which she was also good.
Unfortunately, she chose the the big budget action route. Not sure why she couldn't do both. That being said, I thought Wanted was entertaining. Even though it was nothing like the graphic novel.
Should be interesting to see her in Maleficent.

I am assuming Maleficent is related to Sleeping Beauty?
Watching Captain Phillips and Before Sunset tonight, Dallas Buyers Club tomorrow. Won't be long before I've watched them all..will even have time to rewatch a few before I make my picks.

Yeah, Maleficent is a live action story of the infamous Disney villain. Looking forward to when you get to Wolf. I'm still keeping my eyes out for 12 Years a Slave.

Very strange. No offense, but hasn't it been known that people have lobbied for votes in the past, or am I mistaken?

Went to see Her last night. Really enjoyed it. Although I will say, it was slightly awkward to watch at times

Now choke me with the dead cat that's beside the bed, (After drinking close to a mickey of Jameson during Gravity you can imagine how the sexual appropriation of a dead cat would make me nearly fall out of my theatre chair)
