That's kind of crappy. Good luck with a fix though!

Ouch, I'm sorry to see that. I know of another collector whose Desperation traycase split open on two corners - it was repaired perfectly by a local book binder for under $30. While yours seems like an easy fix, I wouldn't be confident in doing it myself (i.e., knowledge of the type of glue, etc). I'd show a book binder, who would probably be cheap and leave no evidence that they were even there. All the best with it...
Pretty poor craftsmanship to say the least. Hopefully you'll be able to get it rectified.

I have the same problem and wrote Grant. A long time ago. I was told to use a "hot glue gun". I've never fixed it.
Really...hot glue gun?! I am rather crafty and therefore have at over a dozen different types of glue in my arsenal, but I wouldn't even have suggested that. I think I'll try to fix it, but I'm going to pick up a ph-neutral PVA adhesive. It's only the case, but properly glued no one should ever know the difference. And I wouldn't want to injure the book! I was just hoping someone around here had played with one of those glues and could issue some tips!
I had the exact same issue with my Desperation traycase. I just glued it back together and its held together fine. I can't for the life of me remember exactly what glue I used however
Like I said, I've been on a buying spree for most of December. All these damn deals! Here are 2 more:
RF posted this in the Intriguing Items thread, and for the price, I thought, why not? Condition isn't the greatest, but I paid $80 + shipping for a King signature!
A few weeks ago, Jon (jsteltor) posted that he got an awesome item from a CD grab bag. I sent him an email asking him to contact me if he ever decided to sell it. A bunch of emails later, we ended up in a trade. I am beyond happy. What a great addition to my Joe Hill collection. Now to rearrange my shelves!

Great new stuff. Let us know how the case repair goes. I know when you're done, it will look perfect.

Cool Dez. The first picture isn't showing up for me, but congrats!
Very cool piece!
Thanks! Once I pick out a glue, I'm just going to go for it. Thanks for the vote of confidence!
Thanks, Chad!
It was there before, then it was gone, but it's back now, at least for me! Thanks, Paul!

Glue and a clean heavy weight. Apply glue, then put piece back in correct position. Put the book in on the felt, then cover the book, then place another heavy book or two on top.
Wow! That is really cool, Dez! The RI variant to boot! Great folks those two.
Is your paperback copy of The Fireman the international edition?

There is a reason for everything Dez.
Does a Heart-Shaped Box audiobook and an uber-cool ornament out of the blue ring a bell?
I'm just glad it got there in one piece after all the horror stories that the USPS has inspired over the last week or so.
Happy New Year!
"Thanks, but no, it isn't a cowboy hat. It's a fedora. And yes, Indianna Jones is still socially relevant."
With my gifts from my Secret Santa was a note that I would receive something additional in January and it arrived yesterday. I really liked all my gifts and think my SS did a terrific job, but this one was AWESOME! I can't believe Joe gave me both a phoenix and that inscription. I was blown away when I opened the book and saw it...
Many thanks, Glen!
