This may sound sacrilegious to some, but I have had 3 books signed in person... and I have sold them all. For me it was a means to an end, enabling me to purchase books that (at that time) I would never have been able to afford. (S/L Stand for example). I still have other flat signed books, but I would always rate the S/L's over these. Plus I will always have the memories of meeting King in person.

Yeah, the memories are forever, but the sigs can be inter changable I suppose. Especially when S/L's are involved.

I totally understand selling the extra copies of signed books you get in person to subsidize a s/l purchase, but wouldn't you want just one inscribed to you by him, in person? To me that's a holy grail along side the s/l's I want.

oh hell yes, but getting personal inscriptions is pretty hard these days, even if you are in the US. Given that I'm in the UK, the only slim chance I have of this is the HF Grand Prize. A personally inscribed copy of a book would need to be pulled from my dead fingers....
